I am very old fashioned but I wear denim skirts and dresses (I think that I have three or four of each) and to me that’s me being daringly modern!🤔😂

I think it's a post covid thing. Work attire went a bit more casual and I mostly switched from shirts to polos for the office, and I don't want to dress like I do in the office if I go out

I've got a few but they're not as simplistic as you may think, for men of my age.

It's can be a good look but it comes with its own complexities and it's an easy one to get wrong. If you're 50s+ the simple polo shirt is a thing of danger. It's got to be done right. I'm fortunate enough to have kept my tummy fairly trim but if a guy's carrying some extra, he's going to be wearing XXL, hanging outside the trousers, it's never going to be a good look. If the shirt has a sports logo, not a good look. If it's got a big "I paid £100+ for a polo and I want everyone to know" motif then in my opinion, not a good look. For men of a certain age, a distinguished yet understated look can be achieved with a polo and the correct trouserage. If you're not careful, you're going to end up looking scruffy, or very worst of all ...you're going to be standing in the pub, looking like a golfer.

Cufflinks.

Open collar shirt with a cravat underneath.

Bellbottoms.

A time when 'everyone' wore a hat and leaving the house without one was unthinkable. Even when the Titanic was going down a survivor commented that she saw a man not wearing a hat and she realised that for a gentleman to be seen in public in a state of undress meant that the situation aboard the sinking ship must be quite serious. A different time in English social etiquette and permissive behaviour.
