Entry to a club the last item and the most expensive item was a car years and years ago.

Most of my friends who run businesses dislike cash.

One of them who is card only regularly points out, he doesn't have to have a float, his insurance is a lot lower, he's got no worry of getting the odd dodgy note, he doesn't have to go to a bank with cash, his system is linked to an accounting app that automatically handles that side of things. He finds it so much more convenient.

It's just more convenient not to have to visit a bank or cashpoint before I buy something, and safer not to be carrying load of cash around.

It's mighty difficult to get hold of cash if your nearest bank is an 8 mile drive and only open one day a week in the post office

"I really don't understand this aversion to cash that has suddenly sprung up. I use it all the time, if the establishment I'm in refuses it, then I just walk out, and go elsewhere "

Systems have been set up over the last 20 years that make other methods of payment more convenient and cheaper.

If I'm running a business, why would I take a method of payment that increases my risk of theft, increased my insurance cost, and there are now fewer places to deposit (which might charge me to do so)?

Electronic isn't free, but it's become cheaper and easier because of larger systems beyond our control.

£1 coin for 7 avocados at the market. The most expensive thing I bought with cash was an Xbox 360 for £500 in 2005 when it was first released. Waste of money. In my youth I did not realise the significance of money. My philosophy back then was - if you want it, then get it. Nowadays I only buy what is essentially needed. Wants come and go like the tide, but needs are absolute and never change.

I avoid using cash as much as possible and I am now starting to avoid using card as well.

How do I pay for things ?

Simple. If it's a person/trade, and they seem happy to give me their bank a/c details, I'll transfer direct.

.

Failing that, I'll look for any online payment system that a vendor has and use that.

.

Or just not buy the thing

A new car - and that was a laugh and a half to get sorted, with all the money laundering and all that BS. The guy at the dealership was given 2 options - deal with it, or I don't buy it - simple. And it wasn't some kind of fancy car, just a normal car from an everyday dealership.

Yes, it's the fault of individuals that corporations make decisions over decades that make using cash harder. It wouldn't be corporate policies because they wanted extra bonuses.

Ridiculous.
