Marble dining table

Has anyone got one and are they easy to look afer

I want one but need advice

Just fed up of the usual glass and wood that everyone has

Nothing particularly difficult about them. I just use the same cleaner I use on the granite in the kitchen. Seems to do the trick and haven't seen any issues. Only thing the salesman did say was to be careful as while a wooden table will stand a knock and just look well used a marble one looks awful with a crack in it or a chunk missing.

Granite is more durable than marble and both cost about the same, and would opt for granite myself.

Avoid black granite as in Nero Absoluto or however it is spelt though as every mark shows up. The pearls and patterned ones are more forgiving.

Nero Assoluto. Looks good in the kitchen but not sure about on a table.

No good in a kitchen unless one has the time and inclination to get rid of every mark. Had it before, never again.

I have seen granite laminated workshops that cost a fraction of solid granite in B&Q, and they look good to the untrained eyes.

Yes i wasnt thinking sex when i asked about the table...lol

The top is full marble and the base is lighter but have fallen in love with them so want one

Marble or granite topped tables need to have a substantial base for it to be stable.

And they are heavy and difficult to move.

Better to have a fixed base rather than one that has the top placed on the base without being fixed to it, IMHO.

Black is cool, a lot the lighter colours look a bit chintzy to me. Anything dark and shiny needs to be kept very clean though.
