Have you ever lost a shoe when out? It seems to be a common occurrence for me

I’ve even had a pair held to ransom after a night out

Come tell me I’m not alone and share your best stories 😌

I have lost one of my favourite boots ever but it wasn’t on a night out. It fell out my bag on the transition between my car and my partner’s house. I was devastated and actually cried with happiness when B got me another pair for my birthday.

I lost a boot for about a month .

Was convinced either one of the dogs had buried it or that someone had lifted it from inside my front door . Searched everywhere, emptied bins etc

Eventually found it snagged in the sleeve of a jacket 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Yeah. I normally tie the laces together on a pair, and lob them over telephone or power lines.

Somewhere In The Ether…

This phenomenon has always fascinated me.

Indeed, whenever I see a random shoe whilst out and about, I always wonder the story behind how it came to be there.

(I’ve never lost a shoe myself though)

My friend lost my shoe! She had a bigger handbag and I slipped on my flats in a club and she took my heels. Got to the kebab shop and she was down to ones shoe…

She was a hero though and went back to the club and found it on the dance floor. The whole kebab shop cheered when she appeared thrusting my shoe up like a lion cub for all to see.

Good times.

My mate was having a wee in a bush, I thought it would be funny to throw a boot off him so he pissed on himself. I missed, boot went over hedge and into a river.... never to be seen again.

I was young and dumb, dont judge me 😂

Never *lost* a shoe, but have returned from many holidays minus a pair. My shoes seemed to like dying whilst away...

Flip flops where the toe-post ripped out; my walking boots soles disintegrated on the flight to Thailand, which meant I was flapping down the street when I arrived; broken heels...

I often wonder what happened when you see a random shoe on the side of the road... (or even better, on the central reservation, when slow/stopped on the motorway)

Back in Surrey, Dahlings!

I lost my Valentinos (seen on many of my photos!) at a train station after a London Social. I put the bag down when I sat and didn’t pick it up again.

It still stings. They fit perfectly and I could wear them for hours. And I haven’t seen that model again.

It’s now trainers and sandals for me, sadly! Even granny-like work shoes hurt nowadays. 😢

How about getting a shoe taken by the KGB?

A school friend was posted to Berlin as part of his job for the FO. He was trained to never take any work home with him as it was taken for granted that foreign intelligence agencies would occasionally gain access to his apartment to have a snoop around. He said you knew when they'd been. After it became clear that there was never anything to find, these KGB guys would fuck with him by taking one shoe - and then replacing it a few months later 🤣

Years ago a pair of my favourite heels were held ransom from a guy I’d had a date with

I’d left them in his flat along with my vibrator and when I asked if he could return them ( I’d pay the postage) he said he would on the condition I’d snog him again

Hence never saw my shoes or the vibrator again

A few years ago back I was on holiday in Spain with a guy from here walking along the beach as the waves were rippling over our feet

Hadn’t realised I’d lost a sandal till about 20 mins later when I saw a shoe floating in the sea and went to get it thinking some poor stranger would be shoeless, picked it up and turns out it was mine 😂

I have never lost a shoe personally but I've attended many live music events over the years, and for some reason it is a common enough occurrence to find a single, ownerless shoe lying forlornly in the midst of the crowd (or occasionally launching itself out of a mosh pit) for it to become a running joke amongst my friends and I.

I went paint balling with work and whilst trying to hide I seen a huge mud puddle in the woods.

I stepped in it and I fell waist deep in. I eventually pulled myself out and carried on hiding, which was easy as I was covered head to toe in mud! I was like Rambo!

Anyway, it was only when I won last man standing that I realised I only had one trainer on.

I then spent 30 mins in this mud bath trying to find my other one 😬🤣

On my Christmas night out last year I also came home in an Uber in socks as I’d took my pink sambas off and no one could find them

Turns out I wasn’t even wearing those and they were my white ones with gold stripes so we’d been looking for the wrong shoes all the time 🙄

Whilst doing Tough Mudder one time with a team of ladies, one of the obstacles was to jump into a skip of water with ice cubes in it and you had to dive underneath a barrier in the middle to come out the other side.

It is the most shocked I have ever been…it completely numbed your brain and body.

Anyway one of the ladies dived in, come up too quick and got her foot stuck in the barrier…she had to quickly pull her foot out and swim fast up to the surface. She went straight into the barrier head first and broke her nose.

She carried on with the course with black eyes, a swollen nose and only one trainer 😱

At the end there was a trainer graveyard - a huge pile of trainers that everyone had thrown away 🤣

Tonypandy.

I left a pair of shoes in my mates husbands car, that I had no recollection of wearing out or even owning. Apparently we'd gone out for drinks, he'd picked us up and I got in the car, wearing my boots and carrying a pair of strappy heels. I don't own strappy heels, I can't wear heels and they were a size too small.

We were both adamant they belonged to me. I guess I must have randomly found them.
