Gymwear

I swear in my local gym, some of the women compete to find the smallest/tight gymwear for their workouts. Today for example, in pretty much every direction, was a very small pair of shorts and tops so tight you can see the abs outlined under the material, or just a bra top.

Please don’t get me wrong, women can wear whatever they like at any time, and I despise the whole “gym creep” thing to the point I spend most of my time looking at the floor to avoid making eye contact via wall mirrors.

But I do wonder if the women in question want to be looked at? These outfits are so well fitted, it must be a choice?

I know OP...

All those muscle vests and short shorts that the men in my gym wear, showing off their glistening pecs and huge thighs.

It's a wonder that I don't trip over all the equipment because I keep my eyes on the floor instead of just concentrating on doing my workout.

Oh no... Hang on, I do just concentrate on getting my workout done because I'm an adult and can focus on what I need to!

Some absolutely will be doing it for that reason

Some will be doing it for themselves. They feel good.

Some will want that attention, more than others.

Some won't want any attention at all.

That's all it is.

Some women do dress for the male gaze, it's no good denying it. Is it the majority of women, I don't know? Some women like to dress in a way that other women will approve of or compliment. Some women dress for themselves.

I think your approach is the best one op

Well, that’s kinda my point. I go to the gym to do my workout. I have no interest in even learning anyone’s name, let alone anything else.

What I don’t want to do is to make someone uncomfortable by making them think I am staring/checking them out. That’s just creepy in my opinion.

What I am curious about is if the women want to be looked at, or if it is genuinely more comfortable in tight clothing.

All I can tell you is that I find yoga much more comfortable in tighter fitting clothing.

Thats on them, not you. If you are simply going about your day, you glance over then away again and they feel creeped out by that... That is not on you. If you stare, yeah they should feel creeped out.

But get out of here with that whole have to avoid looking for fear of seeing.

Agreed. Just behave normally, get on with your workout, if you catch someone's eye smile and nod then look away.

Do your workout and leave. Eye contact is not a crime. We are constantly analysing what's around us and deciding if we are safe or not, do we need to react or not, and so many other decisions made in split seconds.

Some people want the attention, some people don't, some people do it for validation from others, some do it for themselves. We're all different in that regard. Concentrate on yourself. Enjoy your workout 💪🏾😊

You know what? Genuinely couldn’t give a fuck about who wears what in the gym, if they’re comfortable, good for them. They’re there, like me, to work out.

🙄 and people wonder why gyms are getting a shit reputation.

Some people look absolutely ravishing in gymwear. Even though they don’t go gym.

Not sure if that should be allowed 🤔

Not sure if that was the purpose of your question as I’ve not had time to read the thread but thought I’d stick my nose in anyway.

Not working out hard if you are noticing. My eyes take a rest in the gym, glaze over even . Listen to music, workout and get out. You will always get attention seekers in gyms.
