Hi this is Simon. I am type 1 diabetic, plus a pancreatic cancer survivor, so I hate my pancreas!!

I got bad diabetic damage to my eyes, so to get my sugar under control I set the alarm and took micro doses every time it went above 10.

The result is great sugar control but I have gone from 14st 7lb to 17st 6lb in 3 months.

To lose the weight I have gone carb free. Just meat and veg. Nothing else. The problem now is I have no energy to exercise and in 2 weeks I have dropped to 17st but actually put on 2lbs over the last 2 days.

Can’t do injections due to diabetes for some reason. Any advice from people who have used the same method would be appreciated.

Thank you sexy people x

You might be better suited to speaking to your GP or Diabetic Care team...?

Look up Glucose Goddess, a French biochemist. I'm guessing you can watch catch up episodes of her TV series. Look at creating a healthy gut biome too, it is an important factor in food absorption.

Thx people. My better half works in health so I am not being negative about the staff. They are great, but the system is rubbish. I have spoken to the team and they just said weight gain is inevitable- go to the gym.

The NHS treated my cancer but the mdt were going to put me on a palliative care pathway. I had to fight very hard to get the op that saved me. I have no faith whatsoever in the NHS. X

I only got the op because I knew the system.

I know a guy who's diabetic and the doctors give him one weight loss jab a week, he's lost the weight and his diabetes is under control. Why do the doctors say you can't take a weight loss jab?

So yes, it was treated, but the consultant had decided that I wasn’t worth saving until I pulled a few strings with people I knew. I am allowed to have that opinion despite being treated for it.

I really don’t know. It might even be a commissioning decision for the area I live in.

Please read my reply above because I will be honest. I found that I really inappropriate comment to make. I’m entitled to express an opinion.

If you are eating vegetables, you're not carb free as they contain a lot of cards.

If you are low on energy and don't want to eat beige, then just eat more vegetables

For all advice on this thresd, consult your doctor first.

My understanding.

The way you eat carbs also.determines if they spike insulin. If you eatva lot of protein and just go low carb, there's a good chance you won't spike.

Have you calculated how many calories you need, are you getting enough?

To turn protein into enrrgy you will burn a quarter to a thitd of the calorific content of protein.

To get my calories i have to eat my own bodyweight in chicken and eggs 😬

Your body will burn fat for energy, hence the weight loss, and as a third option it then uses protein.

"Your body will burn fat for energy, hence the weight loss, and as a third option it then uses protein."

It will try to to protein into fat stores still. Your body will happily eat muscle for energy way more readily than many realise.

Thats why bodybuilders are so careful with the cut.

Are you following a book for the carb free or just doing it yourself? I did the Atkins Diet some years ago and it worked for me lost weight and had energy, might be worth a look.

Your body will also fight back potentially, if you are losing weight. Metabolic adaptation is how your body will often adjust itself, after weight loss. One of its symptoms can be to make you feel tired, as it can be a way to get you to save energy, by being too tired to do as much. The number of calories needed per day, can also get reduced by your body, just for basic existence, keeping your weight stable.

We can give you some ideas but you really need to be speaking with a health professional
