It’s really weird after having our first ever club meeting we have realised that because consent is constantly and consistently reinforced in a a swingers club - people are actually safer in a sex club than they are in a pub or club on the High Street. Of course there will always be exceptions, but as a generalisation, we think this is true right now.

There's more stigma against it in the LS, have the bad attitudes and your name will be quickly known for it I would have thought. I suppose in 'civilian' settings the arseholes can get away with it to a point.

You'll encounter a d*unken individual in a club one time, or someone that has difficulties with rejection. That can be interesting.

I agree for the most part. They are far from perfect. But consent seems to be way more understood and enforced at a sex club. I'd feel safer alone at a sex club then at a normal bar or night club on my own.

When attending a club or party i rarely play i sit back and watch whilst Mrs plays.

Yes I enjoy watching but I also prefer to keep an eye on people it's amazing how many just assume they can join in when there's a group on a bed going at it.

Going outside of BDSM and swinging circles it's weird (and scary) to realise how many people just don't think in terms of consent in the first place. In "normal" clubs/bars too many people think in terms of "grinding down resistance" and achieving passive acceptance through coercion and persistence.

That definitely happens in swingers clubs, but if it happens too much they tend not to survive (or land up paying girls to work there).

There is still way too many people (sadly, men mostly but happens with women, too, particularly when alcohol is involved) who see people playing in the open area as a "free for all". The consequences of bad behaviour in clubs is what matters- if the person gets away with it, for whatever reason, they don't learn a lesson.

Yes unfortunately the coercive side of things even appears here but not as often which is the point of my post. The vanilla world seems to still believe if women dress in sexy clothes that is consent.

Yes, it is unfortunate that the patriarchy is still everywhere and also are the prejudices such as homophobia. That is why we are being very selective about who we meet because having shared values is also really important in terms of the chemistry and the consent!

One thing we will say is since we joined Fab as a couple we are definitely talking to some people who really see it the way we see it which is reassuring for us. X
