"So for other lovers whats your fave series? mine the 3rd one, I think Huge Laurie plays George brilliantly " Agreed, I think the combination of Blackadders cynical venom and Georges blustering idiocy made the best of both mens performances. My favourite episode was 'Amy and Amiability' 'One move and you'll be as dead as that squirrel!' 'What squirrel?' *BANG* 'SQUEAK!' 'That one!'

"The final scene in goes forth is a masterpiece the way it fades into the poppy field. A Blackadder saying 'who would notice anothermad man around here'. Hollywood have spent millions on war films and none have captured the moment like that. Bloody brillant series" If I remember right it was very "moving"

Bloody brillant series If I remember right it was very "moving" " The way you've come to know these characters over the past six episodes, seen their personalities and relationships with one another, only for them to die senselessly at the very end...and yes the fading to the poppy field with the birds gently tweeting, was a work of artistic genius

The scene, before the edit and slow-mo, apparently didn't really work. I've been watching them this last week. Blackadder so completely different to Terry and June (see earlier thread) and yet they were contemporaneous.

"I have a plan so cunning you could hang a tail on it and call it a weasel. :D I have the box set but am ashamed I haven't watched it much. On the other hand there are a fair few episodes I can quote verbatim. 'Money' from Blackadder II is the best, with the baby eating bishop of Bath and Wells." Baldrick - I can whip up a turnip surprise Black adder - What's a turnip surprise? Baldrick - It's a turnip without anything in it except the turnip. Black adder - so a turnip surprise is just a turnip? Baldrick - Oh yea. Quote it all me. Sad I know

""you have a ladies leg my lord" "damn you english with your stupid preconception that all french men are great lovers, im french and im hung like a baby carrot and 2 petit poit" love it " #"Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream, belts off, trousers down, isn't life a scream, YEY".#. Comedies of the 80s to the 90s. Can't beat it. Although its depressing as it shows ones age

" Comedies of the 80s to the 90s. Can't beat it. Although its depressing as it shows ones age " Totally agree, the writing of the shows in this era was brilliant. Ben elton, Richard Curtis, rik mayal, graham lineham, hale and pace are just to name a few.

"Yeah, they were all brilliant apart from 'one' with baldric the only sane character & blackadder just childish/stupid. Ben Elton's writing saved it! Blackadder 4 would have to be my favorite - sadly, there was so much truth with the idiotic big-wigs 30 miles behind the front line, sipping their G & T's whilst shouting the orders - brilliantly hilarious though!!!" Which episode are you on about here? (The bad episode). I love it when you watch something that's full of comedy, yet they show a lot of true facts to go with it. Best way for anyone to learn stuff I think.

"@crazed - I wasn't referring to any episode in particular - just the series' Blackadder 1 & 4 in general. 2 & 3 were brilliant also though!!" Sorry mis read it. Thought you meant there was a bad episode where bald rock was same and he was childish and I wanted to know which one was that. I ended up watching series 2 onwards and after the last series and before the films. I watched the first series. 1 has to be my least favourite, but still love it.

"Nope. Never did like it. Whilst Rowan Atkinson is a fucking legend..I HATED Blackadder I thought it a bit too stupid. Which is kind if fucking weird because I LOVE Mr Bean. So I don't know what to think. Maybe I have a split personality?.. " Impressive. I didn't actually know it was possible for someone not to like it! I've always loved it, always will. We watched the last series in history and me and my friends who watched it regularly were 'talking along' to it, and cried at the end, much to the amusement of the not at all cultured idiots in the class! I don't think I have a favourite series or episode. I'd have to watch them all back to back to decide (any excuse!)
