What is a piece of 'common sense' or everyday knowledge you learned embarrassingly late in life?

For me, did you know that Microwaves have a ‘Silent Mode’?

You can stop that beep beep beeeeeeep by holding down the "0," "1," or "Stop" button for a few seconds can usually mute the sound, allowing for stealthy late-night snacky snacks.
