"I read an interesting article about how gen z is having less sex than any other generations ever seen before and it mentioned that it is a trend that is set to continue, not stopping. it also mentioned such things how social media is to blame for it and how many gen z couples would rather be doomscrolling for hours than to have sexy time. I totally agree with that social media is the blame for it and that it would be hard to fix. I have an radical idea for it, how about a global media detox, or just limit the usage of it. I think that we would see things slowly returning on how it was. It would be interesting to see what your view of it is, do you also agree that this downward spiral is due to social media and what do you think can be done to make it better? My view is that this is just fodder - fuck all but fodder. NO GENERATION is getting sex on tap. The people on HERE are not getting sex. There are thousands of threads that speak to that statement. Talking of Gen Z and social media just sells.

"Has anyone ever stopped to think about the problems that Gen Z face compared to to say Gen X? When I was in my 20s if I worked a bit of overtime and didn’t go out to the pub every night I could buy a nice little house and be mortgage free by my 30s. Now the amount I would have paid for a house just about covers the deposit on the same house (hyperbole). Young people are staying at home longer because rents are higher and wages have stagnated, but our generation still reduce how young people live to existing for Starbucks and protest, same as the boomers did with millennials and avocados same as every generation before, in the 60s young people were told to get a haircut and a job. The world has changed and we are reluctant to see those changes, and can’t comprehend just how hard it is to be starting out in a world of social media, AI and the fallout from the financial crisis of 2008, buy to let mortgages and a housing market that favors investment firms over families. When I was a young man starting out I had my own place, and had the kind of sex that you just couldn’t get away with in the box room while my parents were watching wheel of fortune. So maybe it has nothing to do with protesting or bubble tea, maybe we, the older generations are “Cock blocking” a whole generation because we watched too much homes under the hammer." This is a great take. Couldn't have worded it better myself

"There is alot of wieght behind plastics changing us now. Its messing with hormone levels and fertility. Massive reduction in testosterone sperms count and concentration is all down to micro plastics and chemicals. New thing on Netflix called the plastic detox. I fear everything happening to humans now is down do chemicals rather than just social media " I’m not sure the one has anything to do with the other. If it was, then the older generations would be affected more. But that’s not what the research is showing. I’m not sure it’s all social media, a big part is laziness. Watching porn used to be a mammoth exercise, not it’s just a click away on a device you’re already holding and it’s free.

I would say you were an exception I know very few people who could be mortgage free in their thirties by working a bit of overtime and staying out of the pub. People also forget wages were far lower and in the 80s interest rates were crazy high I get your point but as I can only speak from the experience of being an adult in the 90s average wage was around £10k average house price was around £50k where as the average wage now is about 40k and average house prices are £270k we were confident that we would be able to live on the state pension didn’t have to take zero hours contract jobs, gig economy was how many pints of beer the owner of the venue would let your band have, and prices were lower. I don’t see many £99 deposit and move in deals and social housing is just a cute thing we did once upon a time. It’s a completely different world, and no amount of “we had to get up to change the channel” nostalgia is going to make it any easier for young people.

Young people have lost the art of traditional communication, they would rather DM each other then talk on the phone , don't get me wrong , social media has its uses , and yes it's brought people together. But it's now gone to far. " Yes, the have also lost the art of traditional communication too
