Over the last three days I have visited four different tescos. Every time I have been charged a different price to what was on the shelf. So fed up that nowadays I just walk out and leave all the shopping behind

Bridgwater - Somerset

I believe it's an offence to charge more than the posted price - report to Trading Standards.

I took something back yesterday because it was a bit 'off' but I didnt have the receipt with me - they still insisted in refunding me double the amount I had paid. Was suitably impressed.

That's Waitrose. I took back a punnet of raspberries because there was a bug in there. They went through the others to check for me and threw in some ice cream.

its not an offence, they can just refuse to sell it to you if they cant amend the price at the till - i think

It is an offence for it to be advertised at a price and for it to scan at another price. However it's basically a human error. So it's only bad of its the same thing happens all the time. If you show it to the manager the price label that you saw and your receipt or even call them at the till whilst your being served. They will cure that problem on the spot. If it doesn't happen that's when trading standards get involved.

Think with epos overcharging is an offence - like fraud?

Could be wrong - I've been wrong before

Waitrose and sainsbury are not always convenient. I always use the local greengrocers and used to use the butchers until it closed recently.

Certain things and times I have to bite the bullet

But after today I think I have had enough.

That must have made a fair mess of your raspberries by the time you go home

Tell them the price is wrong, and you get double the difference back.

Brighton - even Hove!

It's not illegal to charge more than the price tag because the price tag is 'an invitation to buy' at that price, you can negotiate on the price. Generally its like the poster said above - human error.

I like Waitrose.

Our local DIY store used to always have wrong prices on the shelves. I had to check every time, did my head in.

They took over after another butcher closed down. First guy was an arsehole and nobody would shop there. New owners did nothing to advertise the new ownership.
