Sensible answer...lol I have older parents my mum is in her 70's. my dad is in his 60's...I certainly opened them up to life and they thank me for that...

My mum is 19 years older than me... My stepdad (who's been with my mum since I was young) is 34 years older than me.... so I kinda grew up with a young parent and an older parent.

I'm not really sure what difference there would have been if their ages were different

I'm just curious as I was with my friend yesterday who had the baby without knowing she was pregnant and she's 45. I was my mums second child she had first at 17, 20 and 23.

Mine would have been in their mid 20's when they had me, I was the youngest of 2.

I like think if they had been older then they may have seen and experienced a little more of life and as a result may not have been so utterly useless as parents, but I'm probably being unduly kind to them

I had older parents, my mum was 40 and my dad 48 when they had me. They had wanted a girl for years and having two brothers who ate both suite a fee years older than me, my dad begged mum to have a last chance. Good job I was the girl they always longed for.

I remember a boy at school saying once that my dad looked like a grandad and I was embarrassed about it. But that was the only occasion I was teased. Other than that I had a good upbringing by devoted parents.

My dad retired when I was about 10 and my mum always stayed at home to raise the children, so I had my parents around a lot. They were also a bit better off than when they were younger and struggling to bring my brothers up. So I did have more toys than my brothers had, not of course anything in comparison to what kids jave today though.

I was spoilt and my brothers were jealous if me. Even today they are close but I am an outsider to them.

The worst thing about having older parents is that you lose them earlier and it has left a void in my life and my children are without one set of grandparents. But I had a great and settled childhood with love in abundance so I am lucky

my parents were young early 20's both and I had my first at 19 the next at 23 and the 3rd at 39. I kinda feel bad for the 3rd one b/c I'm afraid I'll be tired and worn out compared to with the first two. But the upside is, I def. know how to deal with just about anything that's thrown my way.

My mum would have been 53 this yr (25when i was born) and my dad 54 this yr (26) so both youngish when I was born, but still at 28 with younger parents have no grandparents or parents.

I dont think there age had an impact on me, I think it was just the way they were as people that did

I can relate to a lot of what you have said. My Dad was almost 39, and my Mum 37 when I was born. We did a straw poll when I was in junior school and I had the oldest parents by a considerable margin. Most of my mates parents were the best part of 15 years younger than mine and, many times, it was like my Mum and Dad were from a different era which, effectively, they were.

I would agree the about feeling the void when you lose a parent due to their greater age. My Dad was only 56, and I 17, when he died and I still feel robbed of something my brother and sister (16 and 11 yrs older than me) got the chance to enjoy.

As a result of what I went through, when my ex got broody at the age of 40 (I was 39) I refused point blank to have another child.

Because of my experience with older parents, whenever I hear of someone in their 50's (60's even) wanting to become parents, I find it very selfish and little regard often seems to be given to what the child will go through if one parent dies, or worse, suddenly contracts Altzheimers within a few years of the birth.

my dad was 40 and my mum 38, my brothers and sister were much older than me. i would of prefered younger parents as most of my friends parents were younger than mine.

i remember at times thinking they would die soon as they were so old.

you cant relate to your parents as well when they are that much older than you.

Mother was 19 father 18

My mum made it hard for my dad to see me but he didnt put up any fight. My mum worked two jobs so my grandparents stood in and did an excellent job.

Dad now lives in aus and never gets in touch, come over to visit and didnt get in touch till the last 4 days of a three week visit.... Waste if space.

Vary rarely speak to my mum but we arent on bad terms just both very independent and know where the other is if an things needed or if something's wrong
