Has not really affected me of my use of the site at all.

I've re-read your opening post, OP and I don't see anything wrong with single men portraying themselves as a different gender, or collaborating together as couples. Perhaps it's their outlet for weekend kinks or shenanigans.

Their melancholy, however, is irrelevant.

I have the odd ones, but they're pretty easy to spit because when a 'single women' messages you saying certain things you know it's a man.

What gets me is how many are photo verified. How does that work?

I don't think so, there are definitely some masquerading as couples, but every couple that has actually messaged me has turned out to be a male and female so in my experience no it hasn't changed that much at all in 15 years. Mx 😈
