So, I think I’m pretty polite when I message someone and say hi, and I’m not one to badger someone if I see they have read my message but not replied. BUT, why block me from your seeing your profile ?? Am I that bad ?

It's a way of expressing a lack of interest and preventing you from contacting them again.

Don't overthink it. If they're not interested, why would you want to view their profile?

Some just block everyone they say no to, sometimes because some people abuse those who say no. (You might never, but the recipient has no idea whether you would or not - or, if you say you wouldn't, you're lying or not).

They might know you and want to ensure that their lifestyle doesn't come out.

They might find you unattractive (this isn't a personal comment, I'm speaking in generalities).

They might have found something annoying about your message.

They might have got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.

Or something else entirely.

This. You'll lose your mind overthinking it. I know it is crap. It happens to us all. I was speaking to someone. Woke up one day, I'm blocked. Completely threw me off, but, I realised fab can be a bit weird and strange at times.

Just 'counterblock' them. Add a note saying that she was repulsive and resembled yesterday's jam.

When you stumble upon them weeks, months later you can review your notes and tell yourself that you dodged a projectile. You did good.

The most effective of all the filters. Just stops you turning into a spoiled child when rejected. Not suggesting you are, but generally.

I block anyone I wouldn't be interested in hearing from again.

Try not to see it as being bad, it's just another filter that allows people to hopefully hear more, from those they'd be into.

If I say no thanks, I also block to stop any abuse of why not questions too.

Introducing yourself for the first time only by email would be a potential minefield in any walk of life or environment as opposed to meeting face to face and chatting. It's far too easy to inadvertently create an impression or thought that was never intended or perhaps in any way merited. But in the world of fab people are probably massively more sensitive to the slightest misgiving that their sensitivities have amplified. Perhaps further affirms the advice of going to a club and meeting people.

Blocking is the most succinct 'no thanks' I can think of.

I mean, it's the most effective way I can think of...and I wish my letterbox worked the same way. As in, junk mail and previous tenants bailiff letters instantly vaporised the moment they passed the threshold.. leaving me with post actually pertinent to me.

But, alas no.

So yeah, don't overthink it.

She was very clear with that comment, that is was not personal declaration that you were not attractive, just a general point that the recipient may not have been attracted to you on that occasion. That's why many people block and don't reply, people often dont accept a polite no thanks, or misinterpret replies.

I remember looking at a thread here in the lounge once and as I often do I looked at the profiles commenting before responding.

Of the dozen or so women and couples who had posted on the thread I couldn't see a single one of their profiles which was an unusually high percentage even for me.

I've never questioned why anyone has chosen to block me but I'm sure they all have valid reasons.

For me it's because if you say hi, they read it, many see that as an excuse to spam them, when they do not reply. Often with vile things said. So take it as a not interested and just that. I just delete unless the message is weird, my partner blocks because they get abusive or she thinks just saying hi means they did not read her profile and didn't make an effort.

Not sure why someone would block you, you look great and sound great. Maybe it’s because people see your looking for ‘the one’ and get upset or jealous about it. I just think you look pretty awesome x

I often block people who I’ve had no contact with because they admit that they are on here without their partner’s knowledge. I often block people who are too local. I sometimes block them because they have an attitude I find repugnant. I sometimes block them because they irritate me and so I don’t want them to be able to see my profile photos 🤣

If a guy says nothing more than "Hi" or something equally vacuous, we block. The thing is we make it very clear we are not looking for single men but we are looking for chat. We'll chat with anybody who has interesting banter. If all you can think of us "Hi" then you almost certainly have no banter that would interest us.

By showing you can't hold a conversation then you don't respect us enough to respect our wishes. You neither respect our lack of interest in men nor our interests in conversations. You almost certainly haven't bothered to read our profile.

Somebody who doesn't respect us enough to read our profile or respect our wants is simply not somebody we want to hear from. There isn't a way of blocking messages but allowing viewing of the profile, so you just get blocked.
