hi,

just a quick question. If person A gave out their home address to person B, can person A threaten to call the police on person B?

southend

I would say if person B turned up with a knife and threatened to rob person A, then yes, they are perfectly within their rights to. However, it would very much depend on why they had threatened to call the police!!

West Yorkshire

I guess if they keep turning up uninvited and refuse to leave when asked then it might be trespassing of some sort? Lots of people know where I live it doesn't mean I'd appreciate them turning up whenever they fancied.

Titz Towers, North Notts

There would need to be something that gave rise to that cause of action.

Depends if person B has become a nuisance or not by abusing the information supplied by person A

The answer is-it depends on what has happened. Need a bit more background to be able to advise.

Based on that alone? Then no. What is the reason for calling the Police?

Anyone can call the police, whether they act on the information given is another thing

The giving of the address is not determinate of the offence (if any).

If they attend and wont leave, assault you, cause criminal damage, stalk you or do something else then that is another matter.

Generally speaking trespass is a civil rather than criminal matter

Did someone not turn up for a meet? Not sure that's a criminal offence yet
