How much change have you seen in your petrol, diesel,etc driving costs? I filled up on Saturday and it had increased by 4p per litre (might have been 5p but unsure). I'm guessing it's gone up again potentially, due to the oil prices increase this week

It's certainly made me stay home a little more

The weekend drives out,just for the sake of it, have stopped as have unnecessary diversions for bits of shopping

Alas,my commute is a 36 mile round trip and public transport to do the same commute would add about 5 hours a day to my schedule

So, that won't stop unless the threatened diesel shortages do kick in

I've been thinking about buying a second car for a few months now - looks like a small petrol car might just be needed

I see that this government is completely inert about doing anything

That’s interesting. Is their percentage on tax just increases as the price increases.

It’s approximately 57% of the value of a litre is paid to the government

Frankly, I don’t think they give a flying fuck

And what’s more interesting? Is that they just benefit because the demand for fuel is inelastic, which means that you need it no matter what

This government complained about a term called gouging and I can only think that they’re enjoying the extra tax revenue while we all suffer

The more fuel goes up, the more tax they take

Take enough to milk it for a couple of months, then suggest a reduction in fuel duty to look like heros

I don't think that this approach would be particular government though

I think any government would go down the same line

We’re on heating oil here too. We paid 53p/litre in Jan and today it’s £1.23/litre. We’ve turned our heating off to preserve what’s left in the tank for as long as possible, we just can’t afford to fill up at that price.

I went on the local price checker

It was showing Sainsbury's at 1.67 per litre and Costco which is another 5 miles or so at 1.61

Went to Sainsbury's due to it being a lot closer and they had closed to forecourt

So drove to Costco and sat in the queue for 20 mins or so to get on the pump

Tank full though so if I just do work & back that will last me about 3 weeks

It did make me wonder when we will start seeing fuel thefts from cars again

Don't drive as much now so not too much of a pain.

Empty the boot of all the crap, pump up tyres. A bit of redex. Light foot on gas.

Drive down hill. Stop giving people lifts. Stay out of the fast lane on the motorway, fill only half a tank not full, less weight using fuel to carry fuel, seem to help.

Also get loyalty points so you can buy a a pest or a packet of crisps, something in return.

They are making the most of the war, there's actually an oil glut. Reserves are the high. Will it be the same price if the war ends tomorrow?

In the uk especially we a taxed the highest, so it's a bit of a cheeky putting it up.

Many factors, diesel sells alot more then petrol, plus you get a greater yield of diesel from a barrel of oil. Petrol ends up being stored at greater quantities. Because theres a store of petrol and not diesel and demand being high, the price gap becomes larger. Theres also a quality factor for oil which i dont fully understand, but from what I get, middle east oil produces better quantities of diesel then other oil, I dont fully understand that or how it works so dont quote me on that part.

Just for reference there are battery health reports available from some manufacturers. VAG group dealers can give an accurate report. It gives a % health, but there is more detail like the number of hours spend at 100%, and the amount of DC fast charging which can help you decide if the battery has been looked after or abused. At the end of February I paid £1.39 a litre for diesel.

Fueled up again yesterday 01/04/26 and it was £1.81 a litre.

While the MP's get an extra 3k with the current cost of living what do we get,fuck all.
