little house on the praire

So my dads loft has been sorted and I'm now in possession of all my uncles war stuff. His uniform, medals, personal photos of when he was in Jerusalem and Israel, linen map, a few other bits. I know I could give them to a museum but I think I would prefer a personal collector to have them. I don't want any money just someone that is genuinely interested. Where's the best place to look for collectors

I'd investigate the regimental museum that he belonged to.

There's some important info that you appear to have that should best be manged by proper curators

Manchester Area

Try searching with the particular branch of the forces he was in and by the regiment, squadron etc. You may then get a lead to a collectors branch relative.

You can 'loan' them to somewhere like the imperial war museum- that way you can still own them but without having to keep them, look after them, insure them etc

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

My Dad stayed with a family in Norway during WW2 and we still have some things the family made for him. A simple carved candle stick for three candles, wooden salt and pepper pots and a doll made by the daughter of a village lady in traditional clothes on the area. She`s carrying a bunle of sticks on her back and also doubles as a matcg box holder. I believe somewhere in Dad`s photo collection is a photo of her. Wonder if they`re still alive and remember Dad?
