What STI test do you use?

Arundel, Yapton

Hello all,

I’ve noticed a few fab members asking for current STI tests and I completely understand that.

There are a range available and these vary a lot in cost.

What should I be testing for and how much should I pay?

Im quite new to the scene and never had a reason to get tested before, recently though I used sh24.com, ordered online and arrived shortly afterwards, followed instructions, sent it back and received results by text a couple of days later. Very simple and easy to do.

"Did anyone go for a wider range of tests as she.uk only treats for a few?"

You can order a wider range through the NHS app or going to a clinic.

SH24 is for England.

What for Scotland?

I came across tests that have result cassettes with them. As in you don't send samples away.

Anyone used these before?

I just use our local NHS clinic, it’s free, discreet (no waiting around for postal deliveries), and free condoms and lube when you go in. Result by text a few days later.

They do only use a generic mobile number for the results, which can easily look faked, but for someone wanting to see I’m genuine about taking the test, I take pics of the appointment confirmation, the urine sample, and the little plaster over the needle prick…..😁

I do think it's advisable to visit in person, at least some of the time. It's a great way to get educated and have any questions answered. Plus you can probably increase the level of cover that you have, as services for prevention have improved a lot, over the last couple of years

Use your local NHS Clinic, discrete and free, urine and blood tests, which you can't do at home. Results in a couple of days. They test for everything.

we go every couple of times in person to the clinic. Its good to get a visual inspection as a woman. I also have some none sexually transmitted issues that they do well... they do my smears for instance. Plus get free condoms etc x

you can do blood tests at home. We do ours at home most times, and probably every 3rd time go into a clinic.

Do people usually get a useful response to the "are you clean/tested?". I only get "yes" as a response, I follow up with how do you know, and that's typically end of conversation. Hence I don't have many meets lol. xoxo

Postal test kits are great but if they show negative and you still have concerns you really need to contact your local NHS GUM clinic for more accurate and wide ranging testing. The postal ones don't cover all possibilities and aren't as reliable for obvious reasons. But def very worthwhile using them.
