I think it's more important to air and dust them more frequently,as they're not in contact with any serious dirt or bodies. It probably preserves their colour well

I have nets to stop nosy people looking in.

I wash them about 4 times a year.

My bedroom heavy curtains are washed about twice a year, maybe three times. I vacuum them when I clean the windows and curtain pole.
