Looking back over the past 30 years, how have you matured? Have you turned into a pastice of one of your parents, or are you a totally different animal?

For me, I still feel young, although I physically I have changed. I have a different outlook, preferring experiences to possessions.

And finally, would you go back 30 years, or not? 🤓🥷

I think I'm a combination of my parents with a dash of individuality. I have a youthful outlook but I'm not immature that's for the chronologically young and doesn't look great on older people. I quite like being older and I'd only go back 30 years if I could know what I know now and have the confidence and knowledge I've gained along the way.

I still laugh at the word boobies...

In reality, massively matured, I could write a massive essay explaining what happened and when. But long story short, had a choice of being an absolute scum to society, doing crimes, illegal substance sales, probably alsort of other crap to. Instead I threw myself at the army. I still remember that day, I walked into that careers office and told the bloke "if you dont get me in, my life is fucked and im going to end up in jail".

I went in the army, 16 as a gobby little prick, got that beasted out of me in no time and realised just how much in life I need to step up! Now im 34, granted ive had a rough time and life lessons, but id say ive matured real well.

As for would i got back 30 years... I mean id be 4 so who wouldnt, but if you say got back to being 16, I wouldnt change a thing I done that day!

I think I have grown less tolerant. Less laidback as I once was. Less caring of others opinions. I see the world as it is now, not through rose coloured lenses. And yet, I’m not bitter. It just is what it is.

I think you’re fed a lot of guff when you’re younger of how life will be. And it’s nothing like that. Sometimes it is better, sometimes it is worse, but you adjust. Life changes you.

I've changed so much in the last 30 years, I'm unrecognisable from the person I was in my 20's/early 30's. I have a number of traits that are my parents but I try not to let them dominate.

Would I go back to 30's ago, heck no way even if you paid me.

My world view has shrunk, when I was younger I’d concern myself with world events, and while I still pay attention, now I focus on friends and family, I concentrate on what I can affect and my major concern are those people in my immediate circle.

Also, while I enjoy a night out when I’m there it feels like a lot of effort beforehand, the sofa always seems like a good option but I push myself through it.

That and I’ve lost my hair!

I'd say it's a case of ditching spontaneity in return for calculation and consideration.

Being less swayed or concerned by the moment, and more thoughtful of the wider/longer term experience.

Find if am too mature an serious the more miserable I get esp if doing just to fit in

I'm a similar age to you OP but I don't want to 'feel young'. I think it's better to embrace whatever age you are and the person you are now, and not look too far back or too far forwards.

I am and always will be totally different to my parents,I moved out at 17.

I grew up quite young but I've matured in my temper I used to have quite a short fuse and pop off at silly things,now it takes a lot to get me to that stage x

I would go back with all that I know now.

And yes, I have matured a lot. I realised, painfully, that I grew up in an emotionally abusive household- the saddest thing is that it was never intentional, just a repetition of patterns that they had as well growing up.

I recently hosted two nieces who are the same age I would have been 30 years ago- early 20s, and they left me in awe. Their confidence, their happiness, their zest for life… I wish I’d had that then. I was always insecure, walking on eggshells, looking for everyone’s approval and validation. Don’t know why and sometimes I catch myself still doing it.

It took a long time for me 2 mature & in certain ways even @ my age I don’t think I am now !! I took a lot of growing up, I made mistakes.

I’m far less tolerant now than I was & certainly don’t suffer fools… But in a way I’m more comfortable in my skin now than @ any point in my life.

Far from being vein, I think I’m better looking now than when I was younger.

Ive got more confidence now and am more laid back too.

I’m waaaay more sensible than I was, but I still do love a good party 😂

I'm actually quite proud of the way my ex and I have ended up after being together for 24 years.

We have a child together and I was terrified that he would be traumatised by us splitting up.

But nothing like that has ever transpired, my ex and I handled ourselves and eachother with dignity and respect which was quite hard at time with all the emotions we were going through.

We're great friends and only live 200m away from eachother, which has worked out perfectly for a beautiful little boy.

Mum's happy, dad's happy and so our boy is happy, ❤️

I think it takes a fair bit of maturity to get through something like that with everyone feeling good about themselves and eachother, ❤️

Mentally I don't think I will ever grow up. Like someone else said, it sometimes feels like you're playing at being an adult.

Physically, I feel a little older, but think I've aged quite well and probably prefer the 50+ version of me to the 20 something me. I seem to take less shit these days too, which I think has came with age.

Would I go back? Hell no.
