How long do we expect him to go on?

Perhaps its time the world started showing true compassion by accepting his time is near and wish him a peaceful transition from this life...

But surely the test of his influence is how we react to his life work rather than the timming of his death….!.

Indeed....

Yet, whilst he is capable of continuing his life's work may we not wish him well in its continuance, until the inevitable, and then react to his influences....

Yep!

I think he should be allowed to let go of his life if he feels he needs to.

Don't get me wrong...I would like to see him in good health again, but the reports about his condition suggest he is nearing the end game..

At his age we shouldn't burden him with our own needs, his life’s work is done and carrying on the legacy is now our work……

Sometimes wishing someone well means letting go.

There are reports tonight than Madiba is close to death.

I wish him no more suffering and a safe journey home.

News at 10 stated his condition was 'critical'

Doesn't sound too good

Sad but inevitable news.

A true icon of humility and endurance, I will never forget his speech after being released from prison.

A man many could learn from but not many choose to.

I will be sad to see him go, sadder still that an oppressive regime robbed this world of his wisdom for so long.

He is an old man, his time is up. As for him "continuing his work", Madiba has not been involved in any sort of work for years and the ANC is definitely not carrying on his work, a more morally and ethically corrupt bunch of thieves you will not find on this planet. He must be totally gutted watching the ANC destroy his dream.

He certainly won't be best pleased the way things are now. I wouldn't let Zuma in the house but SA is a different place.

As for Mandela. To borrow from Shakespeare via Hamlet a bit prematurely "he was a man, take him for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again".

"tell me how different are ANC officials from british politicians? "

They don't kill each other off, the prime minister doesn't use taxpayers money to the tune of £30 million to build his PRIVATE home, he doesn't have 4 wives paid for by the taxpayer, our politicians at least have a basic education, Zuma has the equivalent of a 12 year old. Even Mandela has a huge estate, odd when you think he has only been out of prison since 93 and never had the opportunity to make a fortune legally. I could go on, but it would get real boring.

This is The Lounge. Current topics include archery, elderly motorcycles and guitar bits.

By all means throw your towel in but don't suggest this isn't the place for the skirmish.

For all South Africans it will soon be a very sad day.

I dont think he will get better, he will be missed, as a fellow South African.

It won't be just a sad day for the majority of South Africans - I think the whole of the world that believes in freedom & equality will be grieving.

Happy Birthday Old Man. I normally wish people many happy returns but I doubt that'll be possible in Mandela's case.

I hope he's able to make the most of the time he has left, be it days or months. Years would be a bonus.

I just hope he's unaware of the nonsense going on amongst his extended family to cash in on his name.

Amandla.
