This delightfully wintry weather seems to be taking a toll on my poor sensitive hands.

Can anyone recommend (or suggest) a hand cream, a proper hand cream that is truly effective.

It can be posh or pish, I really don't mind.

Kamill Intensive- the only thing that works for me.

You can get a version for sensitive skin, too.

Manchester(ish).

O'Keefes working hand cream, the green one.

Neutrogena, Norwegian formula, red or blue topped tube.

Vaseline cocoa hydrate.

Aveda, used to do a hand cream called Hand Relief. Worth buying for the titter value.

Hope your cloven hands appreciate my recommendations.

💋

“Good wife” is currently ironing my underpants ready for our love making this afternoon but I can confirm your best bet is Screwfix.

Always in stock and probably less than 20minutes from your door…. Wherever that may be.

The Body Shop Shea butter or hemp cream is excellent too.

How severe is the dryness?

Nursem ointment and lotion are very good for day to day care

Flexitol or eurcerin urea creams work lovely at night

For really dry skin then cetraben is the level needed.

Oh and consider swapping standard hand wash for dermol

For cracks and hacks on knuckles, heels, rag nails use LYPSYL Original. Has to be Lypsyl. Others don't work.

For red inflammed broken down skin from eczema or frosty damp days use GERMOLENE (or SAVLON). Needs to be a few times daily and stick with it for a week or two even after the redness fades.

For day-to-day maintenance use anything with a shea butter base and natural ingredients. Maybe with tea tree and/or witch hazel. DrOrganic have lots of options. Reasonable prices. Easy to source.

Also use any hand cream at all after putting them in water and apply a good amount before putting cotton gloves on for half an hour.

You need to not disrupt the natural skin balance by using anything too harsh.

Try to get it back within the healthy range.

Usually things flare when balances of healthy, naturally occurring, skin bacteria etc flourish to levels beyond what they should.

Any dry patches or wet patches or break in the skin and they set up home and have a party. Even after the inflammed areas calm there'll still be a need to treat and get numbers down.

But not wiped out. You do need it all to be healthy. Just needs to be in the right balance.

If it's wet treat with 'dry' ointment. If it's dry treat with wet.

Moderately severe, Evå. I'm using Dermol 500 for cleansing. It's also aging skin, with the odd fissure here and there. I'll check out the above. 🩶

I bought Morrisons hand cream once. With oatmeal. Pretty decent I'd say and cheap. I still use it. O'Keefes is also a good shout. A lot of tradies use it.
