Do you think there is a higher percentage or us fabbers that have some level of ADHD and we are here and on the scene as a way of getting that dopamine hit?

I seem to be finding the same thing which is what got me thinking.

I'm undiagnosed but most definitely do have ADHD and the more I think about it I enjoy the risky sex etc more than the usual

Would he interesting to find out the percentage or this site with diagnosed and even self diagnosed ADHD Vs the percentage of the general population

I also wonder whether ADHDers need to chase dopamine plays a part in the volume of cancelled meets that people in the Forums reference.

When you are in the moment and riding your dopamine wave and you have 3 or 4 conversations going, the obvious thing is to set up meets. Invariably though life means those meets are a week or two away. By which time you've 'crashed' post dopamine high and lost all interest in the meet.

Possibly why it would be better to attend clubs, because you would then be playing at the point of your dopamine peak and then return to normal life.

For info I've been 'diagnosed' through a 6 hour work place assessment, not yet via a clinical route. 🙂

I'm undiagnosed but highly suspected also. Having talked to many others, there's something else that's been put to me as a point of order.

Some ADHD people have an ability to focus to a level that regular people just can't achieve, so we have the patience to stick with our quest through longer periods of being unsuccessful.

As an example, for work, I regularly need to spend time reading & querying very long contracts. On Wednesday I read & commented on a 68 page document in a single afternoon.

Mrs can't understand how it's possible, but it's not that hard really for me. She also hasn't the patience to post, chat & comment in here.

That might add to the explanation.

Hyper focus at work yes ...but often an inability to focus sexually and reach orgasm, because your mind is flitting between multiple things.

I definitely think so. As a quick ADHD and AuDHD couple we've noticed traits in many people in the swinging and kink scene. I think this can often play out online here on fab in terms of site activity. Sometimes more chasing likes for photos, winks, messages rather/or aside from chasing realistic opportunities for genuine meets. I think some of us can be a bit fickle beyond that initial dopamine hit.

Look up reviews on the providers before you choose though - some of them are awful and have numerous complaints. You may have to wait a bit longer for one of the better outfits.

ADHDer here. Can confirm that I'm hornier than a dog with two dicks as a baseline, but the hyper focus means I have a hard time stopping once I start! There's definitely something about the dopamine hit, but I think there's a lot in the co-regulation too

Diagnosed through gp. Was told I couldn't be by the gp because I have a degree, but I asked to be referred. With women it's often diagnosised at say perimenopause, because that's one of the times it shows up more.

Im neurospicy. For many aspects of my life it is great. I have a very physical job that I love. I’m a hyperactive and inattentive mix. So I agree with the above comment. Orgasms are difficult if the mind starts to wander. Staying present is not easy

I agree I think there are likely to be a higher proportion of ADHD and other neurodiversities in the lifestyle community

Fewer limits, bigger risk takers.

Sex is a great dopamine hit, so is posting pics and getting fabs

I was diagnosed ADHD combined back in 2023, it’s made a lot of things in my life make sense one of those being my participation in the lifestyle

Feels like it's about a third of the scene is on the spectrum. Which is more than the supposed 10% or so in the general population.

It does fit the profile though in terms of spontaneity, dopamine hunting, and general attraction to risky behaviours.

Personally as someone with AuDHD, I enjoy the openness of communication in the lifestyle. People are more prone to be straight and honest, as once we're all naked, and exposing our deepest neuroses, then why worry about keeping up a facade. Which is a godsend for someone who is socially awkward and struggled with body language and reading between the lines.

Saddleworth, UK

I first went into this lifestyle thinking it was a release. Letting my inhibitions go.

What I became very quickly aware of was the addiction side of what I was doing. Everything became about orgasms and it went really quickly off the rails.

I reigned it back in just before lockdown and really took stock of why I was here as a 'swinger' or whatever Is call myself.

I then took a better and healthier view of myself and the dopamine hits then became less but then more intense.

Even now, in my interactions, my total focus is about giving pleasure, not necessarily receiving it. If even say I find attention can be quite difficult.

So yes, I do think there is a correlation between this lifestyle and ADHD ... But it starts with being self aware to break out of the dopamine addiction to have a healthier journey.

Enjoy being who you are and do it safely, for others and yourself.

Undiagnosed ADHD, some RSD and other bits thrown into the mix.
