I’ve always been far better at defintive rather than subjective subjects. 1+1 always equals two and can’t be argued with but the meaning of an author when the wrote a poem can be debated through the ages.

Left school with B passes in both, went onto study Accountancy But my CA does’t mean Chartered Accountant as opposed to Cannot Add

Got into Drama which was part of my English at school so that helped as it did with the shitload of Financial Reports I’ve written over the years

Now I’m retired I would say neither as I can’t remember half an hour ago never mind complicated Algorithms or complicated Algebraic formulae

This dementia is murder

Try counting using finger segments. A dozen on one hand and a gross on two hands.

"The Square Root of Three" by David Feinberg:

In a land of numbers, some odd as can be,

Lived a curious number, the square root of three.

It wasn't a one, nor was it quite two,

It danced in between, not sure what to do!

With a hat that was striped and shoes big and neat,

It twirled around town, tapping its feet.

"I'm irrational, yes! But don't be so blue,

For numbers like me, bring a twist to the crew!"

It zigged and it zagged, with a Seussian flair,

Singing of maths, in the cool open air.

"I may not be whole, but I'm fun, can't you see?

For I am the number, the square root of three!"

Suddenly look out, what's this I see,

Another beautiful square root of three.

We multiply neatly as we both do prefer,

Our product's a wholesome, exact integer.

So no need for rounding when precision you need,

This number's so different, yet useful indeed,

Remember its spirit, so wild and so free,

The whimsical, magical square root of three!

I'm better at English lit than language (A and B) at GCSE level respectively. Maths is probably my best - I passed the maths at BEng degree level. I couldn't do most of the degree level stuff now without a few hours reminding myself but still use basic trigonometry fairly regularly.
