What does everyone think of smokers? Is it a bother or not too bothered? I smoke socially but since i dont go out much these days, i can say im not a smoker but ill take one if offered.

Also keen to hear from people who have quit but may have had some last long term effects from it from their younger years.

Up until 2 years ago was a heavy smoker since I was about 12, now consider myself a social smokers with the help of vapes, only like a certain flavour of vape liquid though, and definitely not cigarette flavour, love how I smell now 😊

I'm a smoker, it doesn't bother me if you do or not because of that, but completely understand why people really dont like it. It does stink, it does stain your hands and teeth, but its also an addiction

Smoking inside isn't permitted by many landlords, so people would have to use outside, where available. Obviously a lot of smokers aren't smoking every couple of minutes, so it's not going to be a major issue.

Some people dislike the smell and taste on someone. I'm generally fine with this but also rather like seeing some guys smoking, when not done for observation pleasures.

I managed to quit vaping after 4 years of it last year. Was honestly the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I did the maths and realised I was consuming the same amount of nicotine as 49 cigarettes every single day.

Still crave it whenever I smell tobacco and have had the odd bit on occasion but I try to treat it more as a luxury than something I have to do every day

But everyone's experience of quitting will be different, every smoker/vapes has their own relationship with it that they have to grapple with.

Also nicotine replacement therapy is a waste of time and money, you have to cold turkey it, the gums and patches etc only extend the amount of time you're in withdrawal which increases the chances you'll go back to it.

There is nothing sociable about smoking and therefore no such thing as a social smoke.

Just touching on the vape thing as most will know no vaping in any government building and shops etc this because in years to come as we are aware of no one knows what is in the chemicals, esp corner shops etc.

So over time when folk start getting very ill and sadly folk will get cancer etc.And therefore council offices etc cannot have claims against them.

I was brought up by chain smokers. They both died of smoking-related cancers.

Walls in my home were covered in nicotine.

I was basically a passive smoker for the first 20 years of my life against my will.

I despise smoking so, so much.

However, I have loved ones who smoke. I tolerate it. I do tell them my views but I inderstand it is not my life nor my health so leave them to it.

In terms of Fab, if someone lies on their profile and it is clear that they smoke- I can tell from a mile away, it is a giarantee that it will never go anywhere with me. And will probably end the social as the smell is the most disgusting thing on earth for me.

It’s a fetish for some, especially gay guys, to see smoking as a sexual thing. That’s why I’m totally ok with meeting smokers.

It can add a ‘bad lad ruggedness’ to a man and the smell is actually part of the attraction.

Partner died, aged 81, from pneumonia. But having packed up smoking over 20 years ago. After being told she would probably need her legs amputating. One of the other conditions that led to her death, was COPD.

In addition my mother has smoked all her life. She's had 2x mastectomy because of cancer. One set of lymp nodes removed because of cancer. She has COPD a lot worse than my partner now.

Now the kicker. My grandma, smoked all her life. Died aged 94 of old age I think. Certainly not cancer.

So, thinking somewhere between when my grandma started smoking and when my mother started. The tobacco companies may have possibly added a chemical to the tobacco. Which affects a person's DNA and the gene is passed on.

I've never smoked, nor never will. But I'm ok with smokers because I was brought up by two parents who smoked....going shopping in the car with both of them smoking, was a trip not to be missed.

Took about 10 years to stop sniffing the cigarette smoke of someone smoking but now happily can say I will never smoke again.

I met with a non smoker a while back…. They were definitely not a non smoker. You can taste it and smell it. I won’t be meeting them again. Just awful.

No not for me. But for now it remains a personal choice. A lot of smokers however are pretty disgusting where they dispose of their dog ends and where they choose to smoke.. In front of doorways to pubs and restaurants so you have to enter and exit through a plume of smoke is pretty selfish. If they choose to do it and not impact on non smokers... Good luck to them.

But have met one or two and I must say the efforts they have gone to have made a difference so depends how deepntheir habit is of smoking.

I'm a smoker but always take the upmost care to make sure I'm not smelling or tasting like ash,when meeting. I've met 3 guys off here. All non smokers and I've not had any complaints.

I'll always check out a profile of someone that messages.

Smoked for 25 years, born into a smokers family.

Had to travel abroad and sign in to a clinic for trial medicines to alter cells for some weeks.

100 tablets in 25 days for trials to the US market. It was my only chance.

The meds worked, I haven't smoked for 10 years, can't abide it, and considering I was a lost cause at 44 with the possibility of losing a lung or both at worst and COPD at best, so it was something I knew I had to do or I wouldn't be here today the way I am. I was able to repair my lung health but it was some journey.

I value my health now and take less bullshit.

If you smoke, you smoke. I'm not going to judge, but it wouldn't be something I'd welcome in a partner or in my life again.

I've been accused of being a timewaster when a "non smoker" turns up absolutely reeking of smoke (sometimes too) and I cancel. They should learn that honesty is the best policy. Mint and stale cigarette smoke is such a foul odour.

It’s not for us.

There should be a section about vapers too as the amount of non smokers who vape is not right! They consider themselves non smokers but if anything they are worse than a smoker.

They constantly hold the vape and take a drag on it every 30 seconds and then you are in a cloud of flavoured scent.

Not only do I hate the smell and taste of smokers (and despite what some say, just 'not smoking before a meet' does NOT stop the lingering aroma and taste), it's the unsociable aspect of a smoker having to step outside whilst I'm left inside on my own. I've never smoked for the same reasons that I've never tasted alcohol.

Just never appealed to me and possibly because all my friends smoked and drank I always tended to do my own thing.

My parents were not strict and didn't influence my decision not to drink but my mum always advised against smoking even though my dad was a heavy smoker.

Smoking and a poor diet ended his life at a young age so I have never been keen on it at all.

What others do is none of my business but I wouldn't be compatible with anyone who needed it.
