PORK CONTENT IN SOSAGES

whilst out shopping today ,,, sad i know,, ,,, i happened upon the sosage section in my local netto ,,, pork content6 varied from 26% to 84% .. in a caserole with fresh ingrediants ,, would the cheeper ( less pork ) variety even be noticed ???

Used to make them in a butchers many many years ago and if you saw the "Pork" that went into them.........

hmmmm well i got the walls sosages in the end ,,,, nice meat to fat ratio ,,, nice length and girth ,, split uniformly during cooking ,,, all in all a top banger ,,, even had one before i put the rest in the stew

Trimmed everything off a pigs head and trotters before now to add to the cereal etc in butchers homemade sausages, taste lovely tho

if they split they arent good sausages - they tend to have high water content and synthetic skins - natural skins dont split

I like the ones from Lidls, in packs of 6, nice meaty taste and flavours.

I guess sausages is a good way of using up off cuts of the pig.

If one worries about what goes into commercially made sausages, then one can always try making his/her own.

There are plenty of websites and community forums dedicated to this craft.

Go to a farm butcher for your sausages....sorry sosages

And for any other meats for that matter. Pay a little dearer for better quality.

Not all sosages are pork sosages though - you can get beef sosages, veggie sosages and our local butcher does wild boar sosages! (still a kind of pig i know) Z
