advice please

Iv just had a coldsore appear on top of my lip iv tried toothpaste as I read it will help also tried my ezcema cream, my mum has told me not to bother spending cash on coldsore treatment as it doesn't work, what rose could I use it hurts to talk,eat,drink x

Cold sore cream does work. Usually works better if you get it before the cold sore appears though. Boots do their own brand which has exactly the same active ingrediant to Zofirax, just cheaper. Try that. The patches work really well for me to. Just avoid sexual contact till it's gone though.

Zovirax is good if caught early. An ice cube wrapped in cling film, held for a minute every hour at first appearance or tingle. If already blistered, best you can do is keep it moist with something like blisteze lip ointment, to help it heal without drying out and cracking.

I'm defo avoiding sexual contact til its gone, I hate coldsore I feel dirty when i have one lol bleeding things haha ill have a look in boots tomz definately x

I think its already blistered, it really made my lip swell abit. X

zovirax. is good ..Aciclovir sp?

my son works in the gum clinic says the tablets you get are good something like 5 a day for so many days. new skin stings but is good cover.be gone in a week anyway unless it gets infected I get swollen glands sometimes when i get one.

As funky said, there are little tiny comfeel/compeed plasters for cold sores. They are good if you can get them to stay on, I rarely can. On the odd occasion they have stayed on (usually overnight when I am not talking or eating), they did speed up the healing process. Remember the ice cube bit for next time, it works, no idea why, lol.

I will have to have a look, I'm at hospital all day tomorrow with my mum for her pain block so once she's allowed out ill asked her to pop to boots first before taking her home x

Lysine tablets work great for cold sores too. I take 4-5 tablets at first sign of cold sore and then take 1-2 every few hours till its healed. I swear those tablets have cut the time of healing way down. I usually use combo of cream and tabs.

How long did it take for it to go. I hate them, plus I have ezcema and because the weather has changed its come out again n I have it on my face so I have to try and not scratch my face incase I catch the sore x

Iv found out a drop of man's aftershave helps coldsores too, I put some on it today n its healing already x
