Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It's bonkers!

Don't paint the nursery with new paint, get in a new car or use shower gel.

I'm all for investigating risk and ensuring the risks are known but get things into perspective. Who's going to listen seriously to the advice on stopping smoking and alcohol when you get advice not to use moisturiser?

There'll always be people that heed these quacks unfortunately.

It is utter tosh.

Too think billions of women have successfully been having children for how many years?

I managed fine, avoiding the very obvious and my body told me what else to avoid (batter in my last pregnancy, it made me violently ill, so I avoided yorkshire puds & what not) but I didn't need a GP telling me to avoid that, that made me feel dreadful

Southwick

Can you paint it with old paint?

What's the difference......or do you mean that the nursery should not be painted close to the time of birth?

I remember not wearing perfume when I was pregnant, as I was told by a midwife it could cross the placenta and into baby

Mostly it's a load of tosh.

Like the not showering after giving birth and eating the placenta boak!

I got a £50 voucher for fruit and veg when I was pregnant, but all I wanted was meat. I was passing protein in my water and was craving meat which were linked.

I didn't drink or smoke when I was pregnant. I think it is just down to common sense.

I needed help having a shower straight after giving birth, but it was what I needed, even though I was exhausted I was in a right mess (which they don't tell you about)

There are lots of things women need to know about before or after giving birth, and I do think women should be made well aware of these facts. There is loads on what the baby is doing, and all that, but women need to know things. For example, when your water breaks, it's not lovely clear water like you see on the television.

How if you have stitches after, it blooming stings when you go for a wee.

I was told to wee in the bath urgh.

Sorry will stop ranting now. I found it a massive struggle after giving birth and think women should be more informed of what happens afterwards, as my midwives were shocking.

Millions of nurseries have been painted by millions of pregnant women at all stages of pregnancy. There is a risk, just as there is with all chemicals but this is taking it to a silly level.

During pregnancy your sense of smell is so acute that you avoid a lot of things that could be harmful. I know I couldn't sit in a new car when I was pregnant as it made me feel sick.

I think the concern re paint is the amount of lead in it rather than just lead free paint

I agree but there are good midwives too. I loved the clean-up I was given after giving birth - I have never felt so clean before or since.

I thought lead had been removed from all paint now?
