Feeling a bit proud of myself and the two guys I'm working with. We had to perform CPR on someone tonight and they have survived!

In the emergency and rush I did fall flat on my face while running for the defib, and bruised all my right side. But on the bright side my training kicked in and we worked well. The guy is in hospital and being looked after but its all good.

Felt crap till his wife came back from the hospital and told him he is doing on and thanked us for what we did. That's when it filtered in what we did.

It should be compulsory to receive cpr and first aid training at school and in the workplace

Thing is, most people here are put off by the thought of being sued in court afterwards, if things"go wrong" and the american-isation of law, but that's just BS, and would never stand up over here

Great news, you should be very proud of yourself. Luckily I've never had to use my First Aid training, but I do think that everyone should know the basics including CPR

I was taking my car to be valued for repair in Warwick late last year when an elderly gentleman fell off his bike having a heart attack. Me and 2 other people gave him CPR until the ambulance came.

We were never told if he survives or not and I'm noy sure if I would have liked to have known if he didn't. It might make me doubt what I did etc which o know would be silly.

Hopefully any judge worth his salt will throw out any case such as this for that very reason.

No it wouldn't...In most cases there is going to be injury but it doesn't matter I agree it should be compulsory in high schools and work places

tend to disagree, its probably more to do with several other factors such as having to chase up individual training, lack of workplace training, apathy even..

agree with the training of young people at an appropriate time etc, its a life skill..

You shouldn't need training to use an AED, it tells you what to do. Out of all of the cardiac arrests I've attended, I've never had to use a defib once. Obviously the defib has been connected but I've never seen anyone go into a shockable rhythm. Good quality CPR is better than anything in most situations, without the CPR, you've got no chance.
