I used to hate it, I now love it, something very satisfying about spending the day in the garden tending to plants etc...

im not a proper gardener.. ive not sucessfully grown anything from scratch yet. attempted to plant bulbs this year but in the month they were in the pots they hadnt even got shoots

off to the garden centre today to buy 6 koi carp for my grandparents pond and some bedding plants for my tubs.

I cant think of anything worse mines decked and patio...ive always killed every plant ive ever had i one got bonsai tree's and even they died...I have a little rockery bit in the front that's looking bad i need to sort it out but i don't have a clue

probably cost you more in compost than you harvest

Compost isnt expensive....I also have some red hot pokers (plant name)

I hate it. Having arthritis in both knees coupled with a back injury means its too painful, so I pay someone to do it.

I garden for a living, mostly enjoy it.

Just a heads up - get your veg in now, or you will be too late.

There should be reasonable availability of bedding/basket plants for another week or two.

I quite like it and did a bit yesterday. Was lovely to wake up and see it this morning all neat, tidy and pretty with my new plants in.

I have problems where I can not bend down and on occasions walk some days, so yesterday I got my chair out and sat there with the tubs on a table and planted them. Then instructed my 3 year old where to put the pots etc.

Have to say he did a good job.

Good old child labour (Joke!)

Well i spent the morning at the garden centre, bought the plants and koi carp.

Put the fish in the pond, came home and potted up my plants, ive just spent the past hour admiring them

I hope its not just a middle aged thing..

I am really enjoying it, when the weather is sunny and hot, with a BBQ going nothing beats just lounging in the garden, or sitting out at the table with a cold drink watching the sunset and listening to seagulls (oddly i find the pesky things relaxing BUT only in the evenings)

Im yet to sucessfully grow anything other than Sunflowers from seed last year

This years bulbs were a failure. Not attempted veg yet, think that will be next years mission

I love doing mine and got into it a few years back having just moved house ive had fight a battle with s but have a veggie patch doing very well with lots of salad bits growing in it and some spuds. I love my hanging baskets and troughs tho they are full of pansies and petunias i grew from scratch and now im hoping to grow chillies and peppers in my green house

i thought about hanging baskets but wasnt sure what plants would grow well.. only ever remember fushia's in the ones my mum had and they were a haven for wasps

i plant heather using diff soil to potting plants for all round colour then just chuck in some daff bulbs for spring colour and a few summer plants. They have 2 choices to grow or not to grow lol.

I really miss my garden, I had crumbly, rich soil to die for, a veg patch, greenhouse and fruit trees and various flowering shrubs. Now I live in a 2nd floor apartment with not so much as a window box

i'm not much of a gardener but i know what you mean. I find it really relaxing to tend to the old folks veg patch. Most the time i'm working in a high stress situ and pressured deadlines but simple gardening really puts the mind to rest
