Your most memorable gig and why?

For me it was going down to London to see Rocket From The Crypt's first gig in London to promote their Scream, Dracula, Scream album back in 1995 if memory serves me well..

Small affair gig wise but what an awesome gig, totally blew me away.. Although they had released earlier albums with little success.. this album of theirs is a classic from start to finish.. Full on American punk/rock n roll!! From the first moment I listened to it I had to see them and I wasn't wrong!! Their live set to the album was amazing!!

The Monkees at Hammersmith Odeon about 1990.

Very memorable for a few reasons.

It was our first out out date. We'd been for drinks before but this was our first time going properly out.

There was a tube strike so we had to get the bus. Ju couldn't get all the way home so I suggested we stayed at mine. I was still living with my parents and she hadn't met them yet so she was a bit apprehensive. I assured her they were both on night shift so she relented. We hadn't slept together yet but we had a bit of fun and went to sleep. We were awoken the next morning by my mum waking me up for work. So the first time ju met my mum she was peering from under the bed sheets.

It was a night we shall never forget.

Oh and the Monkees were excellent.

One of the few gigs I've ever walked out of early...great to begin with, then the 'Hello, Mary Lou' shit started and it was time to dodge the queues on the car park. A complete travesty compared to every other time I'd ever seen them.

Springsteen at the NEC on 'The River' tour or Janes Addiction at Burberry's in Birmingham on the 'Nothings Shocking' tour are a couple that spring immediately to mind.

I went to the queen gig but I was pissed well before the gig started ......didn't the inflatable john deacon drift off across London?? there's been too many awesome gigs .... hawkwind at Stonehenge 1984, ian dury and the blockheads at glasto 85, easy star allstars doing dub side of the moon at the Big Chill, underworld in Dublin 97 ..... the list goes on really

The Orb- memorable for not being able to remember it much

The Charlatans- Hanging out with the band all day and after the gig- top blokes all round and a pleasure to watch a band that love what they do so much

INXS- One of the most together bands i've ever seen- effortlessly perfect

Manic Street Preachers- the early days, about 30 people in the audience and they pretty much destroyed everyone with the power of the performance (except the guy who fell asleep in the speaker cab )

The old indian tabla player after sound check at Wembley Arena- just him warming up and messing about after soundcheck- still on the huge PA system- almost everyone there stopped work to listen to him- amazing talent

Andy Rourke (Smiths bass player)- sat on the sofa- a tad pissed, jamming on the guitar- very under rated musician

I went to see the kooks on their seaside tour and it was a get together of friends i had not seen in a long time...and half way through they got a complaint that the ceiling was coming down on cannon n ball that was quite memorable...also my first chilli peppers gig.

Keane

Several festivals in last few years too

Plus some gigs from years back such as The Cure and also The Elepehant Fair nd UB40 to name just a few

The Damned in Barnsley in 94. They theatre hadn't sold many tickets as the publicity person was off sick, so I spent 3/4 weeks putting put posters around S Yorks and as a result got invited backstage and shared a few beers with Dave and Rat

Other include seeing Radiohead as a support act at the Buckley Tiv, Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays at Oliver's in Chester, Mudhoney at Knights in Chester and Nine Inch Nails at Edwards No8 in 1991

So many memorable ones but for a complete surprise....

The Summit in Houston in 1982....I went specifically to see a band called Axe which I missed due to pre-concert drinking. The headliners were Cheap Trick and Asia but as I entered the auditorium with a huge container of Pearl lager the Animals were playing House of the Rising Sun.

They weren't billed but had reformed and this was their comeback appearance.

Luther Vandross at Wembley: pitch perfect, his voice gives me the chills. Stevie Wonder: what a showman, and value for money. Three hours non-stop, no supporting act. Shame we had shit seats, but hey, didn't spoil the night!

I saw them at Birmingham Uni- nearly ended up on tour with them the following year with the band I managed, but someone at the label was thinking with their lower brain and they chose a band based on wanting a bit of fun with one of the bands sisters

Ahhhhh- JB's Spent more time at the Junction 10 venue but I also saw some fantastic gigs at both including The Wonderstuff (the secret affairs gig they publicised by word of mouth- think it might have been the warm up for The Big day Out at Bescot Stadium which was also a cracking gig), saw Neds Atomic Dustbin at both venues, Carter USM, Pop Will Eat Itself and loads more (was going to 3-5 per week at one point)

Sad loss to the area losing the venues as they did attract some fantastic bands at just the right time.

Can narrow it down to 3:

Prince, Wembley Arena, 1990. Front row seats to see at master at work, and spontaneous improvisation at the piano when his guitar wasn't wired up properly.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Shepherd's Bush Empire, 1999. Brilliant show from a top band, Mike Campbell is such an under-rated guitar player.

Prince (again), O2, 2007. The final night of his 21 night stand, I will never forget the energy and emotion of the audience that night, coupled with the show from a man at the top of his game.

Derby/Notts(Long Eaton)

Front row 2nd night of the original Pink Floyd The Wall then again last year to see Roger Waters The Wall at O2 with VIP tickets and pre concert chat with Snowy White (again) as friend runs his fan club. Booked to see him again this September

practically lived in Dudley JB's from 1987-1994 so I'm sure we would of been at the same gigs sometime

I was there too. Think I saw them twice there. I mentioned on the gig disaster thread failing to see them at the barrel after the gig was cancelled due to Richie carvuing 4real in his arm the night before. And I missed them at (th original) JB's before that due to snow.

Wayne Kramer, Billy Bragg and Mick Jones doing Kick out the Jamms and Jail Guitar Doors in a pub in Camden. i was stood next to Feargal Sharkey and Bob Geldof at one point - crazy night.

Michael Buble in Manchester - my first ever gig - I have a fear of crowds so for my ex to get me to go was a huge triumph - got to see Peter Kay that night as well cos he'd brought his mum to see the show. Only fault was that we were up in the gods and even the big screens were small - so I went to see him again in Dublin a couple of years later and was right near the front - my fear of crowds was founded as there was a crush coming out due to the organisers deciding to force people to go in one particular direction rather than opening all the exits and I had to be lifted over a wall as I was having a serious panic attack - still - the performance was great - he sang a song for me because it was my anniversary

Seen the phonics excellent along with the enemy . Yet to see keane or kasabian but wouldn't mind getting tickets . Also want to see travis and the verve but they be like gold dust

Best gig I've been to queen were superb , the quo filled in for INXS who were stuck in traffic and 38,000 did the salute to radio ga ga epic

Marquee club back in the 80's....a band called SHY were the main event.....the support act was a certain mr BRYAN ADAMS....the rest of his story is, as they say, history
