"Don't use oils. They will carry on cooking you. The pain is caused by the air moving over the burnt bits so if its really intolerable, put cling film over them. I know it sounds daft but its first line care in new burns. " may try this in home tonight

"Calamine is a medicine traditionally used to relieve itching and soothe minor skin irritations. It works by its counter-irritant effect. After application to the skin the calamine evaporates, which produces a cooling effect that helps distract you from the itch. This sensation also helps relieve sunburn. Calamine lotions and creams also contain the active ingredient zinc oxide, which has antiseptic properties that help prevent infection from scratching". From the net. It's a very traditional remedy.

"Factor 50 beforehand? Sorry... sunburn sucks... a lukewarm bath with vinegar is revolting but it works. Tried and tested... several times over. (Never use natural yoghurt... it's recommended all over the place but when it dries it smells bad and it's too sore to wash it off.)" I don't think I could stomach the vinegar bath, I detest the stuff! lol

"Any chemist at all - a must stock item. will grab some in the morning and give it a try, thanks! " I always have some in the medicine cupboard - shake well before applying with cotton wool. Gently dab it on. You can re-apply as often as you wish.

"Don't use oils. They will carry on cooking you.. " Baby oil - Wont cook you unless its exposed to The Sunshine or high temperatures or bright sunbed style lights.. it is however advisable to have a lukewarm bath/shower and Then apply some Baby oil to lock in the moisture - whilst your still wet.. (no pun intended)...
