If you was 40-50 years old and you had or have adult kids. Would you have another?

Or do you?

I am 51 and have 2 kids (29 & 18). I would NOT want a child at this age. Thankfully a hysterectomy 10 years ago has helped guarantee that for me.

I was faced with this dilemma at 46 years old when I discovered I was pregnant. It was a dreadful shock which called for much soul searching.

OP keep comments to the forums not our inbox.

For your information the 10 year age gap was due to my infertility problems.

We were in our early 40s when our child was born. Every day is a joy, and becoming parents has been the best thing that’s ever happened to us. Our only wish is that our first child was still here x

If I was with the right person. At this point it’s something I’d consider j guess.

The big issue is me being transgender and the outside discrimination and pressure on others that comes with dating / being with a person like me in this current climate .

Not a chance. I've had friends who have had 'happy accidents' (their words) in their early to mid 40s and I don't envy them one bit. I love the freedom we have now that all of ours have grown up.

No. I did it at 37 after having my eldest at 26. I wouldn’t change anything but it’s not been easy and if I did it all again I wouldn’t have that age gap. Definitely not 40-50!

I (Mr) loved / still love every part of being a parent , I had 3 girls & my only regrets in life is not having more children. We talked about adopting & surrogacy but it’s unlikely to happen now. I think we’ve left it a little bit late.

"If you was 40-50 years old and you had or have adult kids. Would you have another?

No, I wouldn't.

I have done the baby stage and enjoyed my kids as they've grown up. I couldn't go back to waking up to screaming and crying, breast feeding through the day/night becoming more of a zombie than I already do. The clingy following you to the bathroom as they HAVE to be in your presence 24/7. I've done that, it was stressful at times, but I loved all that. Now though, that has passed and I want to enjoy the next stages of my life and my kids' lives.

"If you was 40-50 years old and you had or have adult kids. Would you have another?

Difficult one! I was seeing a younger woman not long ago and getting quite serious, and I could tell I would have been holding her back because I’ve done the kid thing and she was getting to the stage where she needed to crack on if she was going to have one of her own. Don’t get me wrong, being a dad is the best thing ever, best thing that’s ever happened to me, but as you get older you just don’t have the energy to do it all again with the enthusiasm, innocence and commitment any new child deserves. I think too many parents become parents for the wrong reasons or sometimes it’s forced upon them, and children are too precious fuck up…

I wish more people had this attitude instead of the 'kids are resilient, they cope with things' way of thinking

I want 5 kids. I want to still be having kids when I’m in my 70s with a fit lady half my age.

Ageing doesn’t mean growing weak. I plan to be strong and fit into my 80s, 90s and beyond.

Well I’m grateful my mum did. She was 40 when she had me, my older brother is 20 years older than me, my sister 10 years older.

Her & my dad had ‘the conversation’ & she decided to go ahead with the pregnancy, for which I will remain eternally grateful. The fact she lost a previous child in infancy, her second child, another older brother of mine, might have had something to do with that decision.

Mr.

Yes. I was a grandmother at 34. I was almost a mother again, but sadly, it wasn't meant to be.

No, i had my son at 25 i got divorced but decided at 32 there would be too big an age gap even if I met someone else.

I was lucky all my partners I had either didnt have children or their children where over 18 and that suited me perfectly.

One of.my close friends got pregnant at 45 her one and only child. We are all a generation ahead of her as we are all grandparents
