Reading

I was talking with my kid over dinner just now and he asked me several things.

The first (disparagingly) how long is my playlist of music? (23 hours and 55 minutes)

The second (also disparaging) when was the last time I added something new music to my playlist? (Last Saturday when I added Mary Jane’s Last Dance by Tom Petty)

The last (not surprisingly disparaging) could I name a top 5 of songs?

Curious to hear your answers!

1. I have a lot of playlists organised by genre and occasion, the longest is the Christmas Day playlist at 6 hours 3 minutes 😂

2. The latest song I added was to Irish Folk and it was Blue is the Eye by Ye Vagabonds 😍

3. I genuinely couldn’t, changes by the day 😊

My kids taste always used to disappoint me when she was young but now she has some of my faves in there .

The first point , I don’t actually have a playlist !

Second , last thing I added to my virtual library was Rusted By The Rain by Billy Talent .

(Love Mary Jane’s by the way , nice wee harmonica part in there too )

Third … my top five is a revolving door ! I remember stuff randomly .

Current faves are

White Knuckle Riding -Virginmarys

Noble Savage - Clutch

The Ship Song - Nick Cave

Mexico - Five Horse Johnson

Don’t Drag Me Down - Social Distortion

I’m in a bit of a noisy mood

I dont do playlists. I tend to listen to albums although about a month ago i started listening to my ipod on random.

I buy about 10 albums a month, a mixture of old and new, so i am quite up to date.

Music was my first love....🎶

I would estimate my 'playlist' end to end would currently be approximately 600-700 hours 😯

The latest addition would have been Lisa O'Neill - The Wind Doesn't Blow That Far Right

Top 5 would be absolutely impossible!!!

I Trawl The Megahertz by Paddy MacAloon would always be near the top though!

It's an absolutely stunning piece of music,composed from a montage of random voices on late-night radio shows/phone-ins 📻

Kids usually have different taste in music to their parents generation, when you were 20 was your taste in music the same as your parents?

Music changes generationally so what is cool and in today will not be in 20 years.

My top 5:

1) Roxette - it must have been love

2) Starship - Nothings gonna stop us now

3) Sinead O Connor - Nothing compares to you

4) Words - the bee gees

5) 1 direction - what makes you beautiful

1. I don’t really make playlists that I repeat, I just queue up whatever I’m in the mood for.

2. I added Dan le Sac & Scroobius Pip to my band camp last month because they released Live in places.

3. My top five (currently because it can and does frequently change):
