I watched an interesting program about relationships and they talked about if the perfect partner exist or not, they mentioned many things about it and one thing of it was how many people are looking for the negatives in their soon to be partner rather than the positives, because marrying the right person will make your life easier.

I agree with them that most people are looking for the negatives more rather than the positives, by doing that, the person will end up lonely, because they have unrealistic expectations for that person, because perfection is unrealistic, instead one should focus on finding a good enough partner who is compatible with you.

It would be interesting to see what your view about this is, do you also agree that people nowadays have unrealistic expectations of finding the perfect partner? If you are a couple, did you focus both the negatives and the positives in the person and if they were compatible with you too?

Absolutely, it takes work work between two invested people to make a perfect partnership but we’re all humans and prone to error and flaws , that’s what makes us unique and makes a relationship so special

We have found we are perfect for each other. Now, that’s a better way to describe it since perfect is subjective anyway. And since we have had an amazing, easy and work free relationship for a decade and still act silly, show lots of affection, have amazing daily sex and share each other, we feel perfect for each other. Sammi doesn’t work so she’s at home and I do work but from home, we spend 24 hours a day together and still haven’t become bored of each other after more hours together than most 20+ couples, we are pretty confident in our ability to go the longest distance

I don’t agree that most people look for the negatives. If anything, it’s more likely they overlook them in that neurochemically induced infatuation stage, and end up settling with someone who isn’t quite compatible once the honeymoon phase wears off.

I don't think it's a bad thing to know what you do/don't want from a partner for your own happiness. But I don't think perfect really exists.

Perfection shouldn't be the aim, no ones perfect, relationships take work, communication, trust.

Finding that person who you can truly be yourself with, be comfortable even when life just isn't lifing, make you feel safe, comfort you when your down, make you smile, is by your side through everything - good, bad, ugly, sad, happy and so on.

Yes, I think so. There are certainly people who bring out the best in me that make me want to do/be better in the best way. That challenge me as well as make me laugh and give me the things I need to feel secure in a relationship. I don't think it's easy or common to find people who you connect with on multiple different levels but I know it's possible and I'm on the lookout!

I don't believe people are perfect but I do think you can pair up with someone who balances your strengths and weaknesses perfectly enough to make life wonderful.

The point where you both come together is an ever-changing line though. You have to work at relearning who eachother is every new day.

I’d say you’ll always be left disappointed if you are looking for the perfect partner from the very start.

I do believe people who have been married a long time or been together a long time can say they’re with the perfect partner. That’s because they’ve built that relationship, built that trust with each other and accepted each others flaws. You’ve just got to be willing to give it that time
