Tax return

Hoping for some help, I have been on emergency tax for a good few month and I done my tax return for this like a month ago. I called today and they said they couldn't give figures over the phone for whatever reason but its been processed today and because of checks it could take 3 weeks. I already posted p60 etc so why the wait I'm wondering and what checks could there be??????

Pretty quick for HMRC. I got tax I had overpaid in 2004/2005 2 months ago
