It’s getting worse. Are people becoming so entrenched in online discourse that it's starting to affect real life interactions?

They’re building up online fantasies that they are afraid will not meet expectations or they will fail to deliver on. Afraid to actually meet.

Excessive immersion in online porn, sexual fantasy and messaging is skewing expectations of reality and avoidance of the challenge of ‘live’ social behaviour.

Using online platforms like Fab but ultimately avoiding the difficult or stressful real-world interactions..

Couples too (and then that’s usually the men administering the profile, living a fantasy, never intending to actually go through with it)

I'm very constant and probably automatically avoid anyone who's more of a fly by night. I'll hardly notice them and I'm a bit surprised by this thread OP.

Is it really getting worse? I am not seeing that but then I do feel I must live in a different world to most forumites as I don’t see the issues that get continually raised.

Secret hideaway in the pennines

I have had a few this year that have seemed totally genuine then disappeared when it came to meeting, maybe I just attract the wrong type

Sadly too many of them about, and then folks are understandably twitchy when arranging meets just in case. Recent verifications are a must for us.

Let's not beat around the bush here, every sex is guilty of it. Certainly no need to point fingers

It's not something I've experienced. I'm not saying these nefarious people don't exist, but due diligence keeps them out of my pleasure-circle.

We'll all just be avatars soon, never leaving the house, just wanking to imaginary sex... Oh wait .. that's my life now
