why do people judge other people? is there not 2 sides to every story? but we all judge why??

More importantly, why do so many give such value to thoughts of those that disapprove or judge ?

What we often miss when we rush to judge is that it is better sometimes to remember how to think and not what to think.

so why dont or cant people think? surely what you see n read on the tv or the newspapers is not facts is it? we have a brain but yet we dont use it why?

Some get pleasure in judging others, they don't want all the information or both sides of a story they just like to feel better by putting others down.

Judging people is psychological. Humans engage in the causal search for why people do things and in the absence of accurate information they project a cause to it. This is often referred to as a process which leads to the fundamental attribution error (an error of judgement). Essentially we judge others by their behaviour and ourselves by our intentions.

Judgements on other people is not the problem. It's what is needed for us to make life decisions, stay safe etc. It's how we portray those judgements that is the problem.

Say I was walking out late at night and two dodgy looking fellas stated walking towards me, my inner safety mechanism would be screaming 'get out of here, they are going to rob you or worse!!' but my body language would say I am confident and just going to confidently walk out of their way.

Yes I have judged them. They might have been monks, not hoodies but my split second decision of self preservation kicked in and I felt I kept my self safe and no one was any the wiser of how I judged them.

Of I had screamed and shouted 'hey away from me you no good chavs, I know you want to rob me. Why don't you get a job??' then I would be in the wrong foe outwardly projecting my own judgment on people that were just walking down the street.

and there are 3 sides to each story.... yours, theirs, and the truth... which will lie somewhere inbetween.....

As a psychologist, I have searched for the answer to this question for much time & come up with no wiser words than that of my husband

'Opinions are like arse holes, everyone's got one. But wat generally passes as an opinion is shite....'

People who judge others are just the same except they pass personal opinion about others because they cannot bear to turn the lens upon themselves for fear of seeing something so malignant tht they may consider doing themselves in....
