My husband didn't get me a present or card on my birthday either, or our anniversary, the last two valentines days or Mother's Day.

You either have to not let it bother you or walk away if its typical of his thoughtless behaviour.

Just that your profile intimates you are looking for 'the one' to run away with

As you don't clarify in your OP the relationship you have with 'the man in your life' it could cover a whole gambit of possibilities.
