Probably means someone who has a professional vocation, with pride in their work which us reflected in their lifestyles.

Generally the term described skilled jobs in the past. Don't get hung up by it!

Someone who's not on the dole.. Claiming the giro etc haha not many professionals these days with 14% unemployment..
