What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

I would have to say solo travelling abroad multiple times within last couple of years.

Big step coming outside of my comfort zone being an introvert.

Been there too, travelled on my own last Sept, and again in May and booked another trip next month too

Same travelling on my own. I went to Albania last year on my own. I enjoyed it. Saw the sites and places I wanted and actually experienced the culture of the people there.

I bought a boat and live on it hahaha. I suppose going solo backpacking in SEAsia also, but that feels almost pedestrian now so many people do it!

Got caught alone, in soft sand on the skeleton coast Namibia near the Angolan border. 8hrs to get the vehicle 20 feet back on firm ground and moving again. Young and stupid, pre-mobile phones and no sat phone either. Nobody knew I was there. Only some Sprite, Biltong and bananas to drink and eat. Used some dead seal skins for traction and the smell of them burning under spinning tyres will stay with me forever 🤮

Most adventurous thing......

I'd say "Running with the bulls" in the streets of Pamplona Spain.

Especially the end of that too within the bull ring where all the bulls appear together.

But also

Cheese rolling in Somerset

Skydiving

Bungee jump

La tamatina (tomato throwing festival) Bunol Spain.

Only done it once. Krakow in Poland. I think anywhere outside Europe still intimidates me 😅

I am the same… I took a 2 week holiday in DR on my own but I had previously gone to the same resort 6 months before with my son..

I got to know all the areas of the hotel that I liked on the first visit and when I went back I was comfortable in my surroundings and a few of the hotel staff recognised me and so this helped..

However in the 2 weeks, I chatted to about 3/4 different guests and only spoke for a couple of minutes… otherwise the only people I spoke with were the hotel workers.. but I wasn’t lonely as I was messaging and chatting with people back home

wherever I am. ;)

I was desperate for a holiday in the sun, so I booked it spontaneously. Then a month later did the same. Absolutely loved it. No stress, no negotiation just pure bliss.

I took myself to a few swinging clubs alone too. I was initially very nervous but after 5-10 minutes, relaxed and had a look around. Chatted to some people etc , but also realised that I was in fact not a swinger but into Kink. Interesting visits though and I am glad I went.

Having a baby on my own with no support when I knew nothing about babies. Then taking her to Morocco by myself when on mat leave.

That or meeting someone at uni aged 18 and 5 days later deciding we would ditch our courses to jump on a coach to go and live by the sea (from Herts to Devon). We didn't tell anyone, just packed 1 bag each (had to leave everything else behind) and just left a note saying "gone to live by the sea".

When I was 17 in 1982 I would hitch hike around the UK going to see punk bands for anything upto a week at a time.

No money, sleeping in shop doorways, hanging around venues to try n get in for free n get some free food n booze.

Probably some of the best times of my life.

Not sure if this qualifies as “adventurous” but I donated a kidney to my younger sister back in 2007. Very ill at the time and now we’re both 100% living our best lives…

Crazy scary at the time but incredible too. Regularly donate blood now too. In Ireland the Government has introduced an “opt out” decision. So if you don’t “opt out” you’re organs will automatically be used if you pass and their viable…. Long overdue policy but crucial..

Traveled, with two friends, from Ireland over to the Reading Festival with no tickets, only a tent, when we were 17 years old.

Luckily the arrangements were good and we got our tickets. But it was some journey having to figure out what Undergrounds, trains and buses would get us to our destination.

This was a time before mobile phones and easy access to a very young internet.

Our parents didn't hear from us from when we left on the Thursday morning until we got back on the Monday night.

Here, There & Everywhere

1. 20 years ago, I packed up and moved my family 2000 miles away to Zakynthos.

2. 10 years ago I started solo travelling. The first trip, to Italy, a bit daunting but absolutely loved it and it gave me the wanderlust to travel even more.

Adventurous, or Crazy, not sure which ……. But when i was 18, I took off in the middle of the night, jumped on a train, left the UK and vanished into the Swiss/French alps …….. walked up one side of a mountain so that I could climb down the other side into the valley……. About half way down it dawned on me that no one on this planet knew where i was
