Do you use anything that helps when you go to the gym? Do you think they actually make a difference or are they too gimmicky for you?

I do have a range of them such as a belt, wrist straps, squat shoes. And I wonder if I'm even big enough to justify having that much 😂

A belt for adding weight to dips and chins and wrist straps and I try and use them as minimally as I can manage, working sets of deadlifts and barbell shrugs only

I’m lazy the least I have to carry about the gym the better, I’ll ditch the belt and straps somewhere in the gym after use and get it at the end of the workout

I take bands for leg work exercises, and last week I took a loaded rucksack and wore it on the treadmill whilst power walking on the highest incline and holding 5kg dumbells in each hand. I used to use a sandbag over my shoulders but that restricted the additional use of my hands. So I improvised and it worked well.

I do find that the straps work for back exercises too for certain rows but I get what you mean. I never thought I'd be the gym bag type 😅

Belt, lifting shoes, knee sleeves, and straps.

I train heavy and specifically, so I'm glad to have them.

Are there lots of other gym gubbins & gimmicks, sure.

I have heard some of those weight loaded vests or rucksacks can help with conditioning but definitely didn't imagine that as an accessory!

I recently bought some knee sleeves as I'm focusing on lifting quite heavy (relatively) and I did think "do I have too much?" 😆

Just gloves. Sweaty hands and dumbbells/ kettle bells don't mix for me, and stops blisters from the rower.

Gym bags are banned on the gym floor at our gym so kind of limits what can take as well mate, I’d definitely use them for other back excercises if I need too my grip is fading with age so that day will come ha

Think the only gym accessory that is severely frowned upon is the “pussy pad” for the squat bar, I haven’t seen one for years so hopefully they have gone the way of the dinosaurs

If I owned a gym fetching one in would be instant lifetime ban haha

Chalk for deadlifts and some fractional weights that the gym doesn't always have.

Take my shoes off for squats as too tight for some lifting shoes.

I bought some Nike Romaleos 4. Definitely on the pricey side but knowing I was only going to have one pair to use twice a week, I thought I'd make the purchase worth it.

Deadlifting with no shoes also help to have better contact with the ground.

Business cards with my personal contact details for the Lycra clad yummy mummy ditties in this body pump class…

An old litre bottle of Hersheys Chocolate Sauce that has my water in it… always gets amused / horrified stares.

My own mat, the leisure centre ones stink.

In the weight room I see gym bros with earbuds or massive fucking headphones, baseball caps (the glare from the lights?) weight belts for 10kg bars, a phone that is stared at constantly whilst standing next to benches and machines for long periods. 5 litre jugs of water… in case of fire
