TV Ads for car Insurance

Why are they always, corny, naff, seemingly low budget affairs ?

I think without exception, every ad for car insurance is corny - The red telephone, Admiral, Sheilas Wheels, Go Compare, that one with Michael Winner 'It's only a commercial Dear' ....

It must be some kind of clever marketing ploy but I just don't get it. All it does is make me not want to use the companies using this type of ad.

Nearly forgot - one exception Compare The Meerkat.com - For me, the advertisers have got it bang on

There again, I remember the names of the companies, so to an extent the advertising has worked
