A nice profile picture draws me in, it can be nudity or a tease or some eyes or a smile, literally anything which gives the old chap a twitch. Similarly, if I see someone's posts in the forums and it's my kind of content/writing I'll click on.

After that, I read the bio before anything else. I like the bio to be informative and I'm not bothered if it's a bit of an essay. I'd rather have as much as possible so I can make a decision on whether to message and if so what I might say.
