Slag or slut? What's the difference?

You often see the terms slag and slut thrown around.

Some have them in their user names

But what's the difference?

What do ladies think?

Can men be slags or sluts?

I'm not sure why but I think of slag as being a bit more working class? A certain accent saying it.

Neither should be used on another unless you're certain about how they feel. Slut more people are reclaiming and that's great. I don't know if slag has that ring to it.

"They have their place inside dynamics and consent.

This is the answer, I think they have been used historically as an insult for a liberated woman, using them nowadays can still be taken as an insult without consent.

You call Mrs NW214 a slag, slut or even whore without consent or context then we have a problem. Whisper it in her ear whilst shes being pounded into a mattress then your likely to get an eye roll and a pleasure moan of agreement.

Some people associate the word 'slut' with women who aren't very good housewives and have sex with loads of men and 'slag' with women who have sex with loads of men or to describe a by product of coal mining.

I dislike both words used to describe people and the people who use them in a derogatory fashion. If somebody wants to use either term to describe themselves that's up to them.

Slag = waste products of industry e.g. the powdery coal that cannot be sold or metal shavings that are not used. They are TRASH and go on the slagheap.

Slut or sluttern = a woman who didn't keep a tidy house. To be sluttish was to not clean up thoroughly.

Those meanings still exist but became used by men against women when they wanted to discredit them sexually - she's a slag or a slut.

Some communities use the term slag as trash to describe 'lowlifes' , burglars, scroungers and those without morals etc ...

Neither word has any place in day to day life but they seem quite gentle when used to arouse a willing partner who doesn't take it to heart.

P.S....... I would not like it used toward me in a sexual situation - i've never been aroused by words that suggest there are limitations on my where, when , who with and how many times etc..... nor is sex dirty to me, but I see how it works for people

I hate the word slag in all it's forms. I don't appreciate it used in any context, it's an ugly word.

I enjoy some degrading names used in a sexual context with consent, this includes being called a slut, whore, cunt, bitch etc. Consent is absolutely the operative word here. Context is also important. Outside of the right context I don't like them.

I sometimes call myself a slut or self identify that way in a playful context as a woman who loves sex, I feel the word has been slightly reclaimed. Again, it's about context and meaning.

I don't appreciate total strangers calling me degrading names, or people I have not given consent to use those words with me. If anyone does then they get read the riot act.

I'm not a fan of either.

If someone chooses themselves to have it in their username or is happy to be called either, then that's a conscious decision they've made themselves, and entirely their prerogative.

If someone chooses to use it as a label for anyone else then that's not OK.

There's a huge difference between self determination and labelling by others. 🤷‍♂️

I can imagine hearing someone with a Tom Hardy voice usung 'slag' to banter with a mate in full good humour.

I don't think I've heard it used as anything else in decades.

You might hear it if you watched episodes of 70s/80s cop shows.

But in my tiny mind a slag is someone who will have sex with anyone anywhere at anytime but a slut is someone who just unashamedly loves lots of sex (even if it's with just one person). These apply to both males and females.

Not a fan of slag ever… slut has a context In a consenting way where a woman gets enjoyment from it and wants to be addressed that way… it was so negative a term for so long it may yet take a while for it to be reclaimed and lose that negative connotation and be seen as a term for a sexually empowered independent woman…. Not something Im particularly comfortable saying to a woman but if she wants me to - to add to a dynamic…

I don't like being called a slag or a slut or whore during sexual play. I do like being told I'm a greedy good girl.

However, I do know some people have a kink or fetish for those words and it really turns them on.

My friend with benefits loves me calling him a slut while I use the prostate massager on him.

So yes men can be sluts or slags especially if they want to be in the bottom and/or sub role.

The origin of the word slag is entirely with reference to waste product or rubbish.

The word slut originally meant a dirty or unkempt woman but changed over time to encompass sexual promiscuity.

From that I would say ‘slag’ is pretty much always derogatory. ‘Slut’ might be an insult or a compliment depending on context and perception.

Personally I love slutty women. They’re perfect!

That's a brilliant bit of definition.

My mrs will call her self a slut at times due to her lifestyle choice.

But she is not a slag.

To answer the "What's the difference?" part...

"Slag" is a purely British slang term used solely in the UK. I have never heard it used elsewhere that is for sure.

"Slut" on the other hand is very international. Any adult fluent in speaking English anywhere in the world is highly likely to know the word and its meaning.

I’ll tell you from a mans point of view (sorry, I know you’re only trying to engage with women for some reason 🙄).

One is a childish extremely derogatory term that only a very few distasteful people would use, the other can be considered as a term of endearment in a kink environment. I find the question a little odd to be fair as it’s very very rare to hear of a woman (or a man for that matter) referring to themselves as slags..

Some might disagree but it’s just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

I dunno, I think "slut" largely depends on context and the people involved.

If a women wants to declare herself a slut then, y'know, fine - own it. Good for you!

I can't speak for all men, but I'd personally steer clear of calling a woman a slut, except maybe as part of a mutually agreed kink thing. Even then, I'm not sure I can pull it off. I find the "dirty porn talk" thing a bit affected and comical and can't really take it seriously.

"Slag" is just a bit grim and outdated, isn't it? Plus, I think Viz ruined it as a term.
