I’m off on a mixed work and pleasure road trip in the coming weeks, a few nights in Sheffield (work) then Glasgow (pleasure) for a long weekend before heading back down the west coast to Manchester (work) and finally home.

What are your favourite spots/recommendations of places that I should stop at on the way? Also open to meeting up for socials as well (please keep it to the the forums and not my inbox).

Where in Manchester? I've been up there fair bit in last year for work and I like it around Deansgate for the bars and restaurants, plus Vue cinema there

Read your profile to get a feel for what you like but not much to go from. What's your thing? Food/Drink, outdoors, reading, museums, art etc? Give us a clue and I'll try and recommend something North of the wall

I genuinely don't mind, this whole trip is to push me out of my comfort zone and try things I wouldn't have considered before. I'm staying fairly central in Glasgow but will have a car so can travel as well.

I've not booked my hotel yet which I'll do based on what I end up doing. The site visits for work are predominantly south Manchester but I'm flexible.

So if driving to and from your work site I've found some more central are a pain in rush hour but better for walking about and places. I stayed in Salford Quays area once near Old Trafford and east to get to but wasn't much close by in terms of restaurants etc unless I got a tram. I still recommend near deansgate just for what's about
