Back to the dating apps I go.

So I’m back on the dating apps. Probably the worst time (summer) but it’s so weird going from not usually seeing someone’s face (on here) to seeing it before even having a conversation. But I generally find they’re a pretty easy way to meet people you’re very likely to connect with

What are your feelings on dating apps as a way of meeting people?

I've used a variety of dating apps sporadically over the last ten years with mixed "success".

After becoming disillusioned with fab again recently and being messed around, I've become active again on Feeld. There tends to be a big fab/Feeld crossover anyway, but I tend to meet people more aligned to what I am looking for/my interests on there.

I used to use Hinge but I got fed up of men telling me they were happy with ENM but actually they wanted monogamy and were secretly hoping they could win me round/manipulate me into monogamy etc or being told I'm intimidating or too much because I like sex and I'm more experienced (nothing to do with numbers/body count - yuck-, just the fact that I've ticked off a variety of "fantasies" they've been dreaming about).

Many men seem to think because you like sex you only want casual. If you want romantic then you have to be chaste. It's frustrating. I go through cycles of getting fed up and deleting my profiles.

Dating is a lot of hard emotional/mental labour. Especially when you'd rather be single and happy then just be in a relationship for the sake of one.

Last time I used a dating app I was coming straight from BDSM/fetish sites.

Got a message from a lad with a decent profile, asking me what I was into. I responded with the norm: no wee, no scat, no animals or kids, no extreme pain, everything else is up for discussion.

Turns out he was asking about hobbies and interests.

I am occasionally on a hookup site or two but I steer well clear of relationshippy dating sites now.

Sadly OP, I find they are a necessary evil these days.

As a 'mature' woman with only coupled friends who never want to actually go out and socialise my opportunities for meeting people in the wild are fairly limited, so I find dating sites useful for connections. That said, even using apps like Feeld and Hinge can be a challenge when seeking a non-monogomous potential partner, particularly when trying to date from a location that doesn't drive a huge volume of potential matches.

I've encountered a fair few individuals on those Apps who are also on Fab though, so you never know who you might find!

You can filter out monogamous people again on hinge. And hinge is a GREAT dating app; the prompts are a really good way to get conversation going but also figure out what kind of relationship people want

But no they can be good, they can be bad, I met my kids dad on a dating app and we were together for 11 years, tbh all of my relationships have been off dating sites
