I wonder if the schools will stay open at half term in 4 weeks to make up for the fact that our kids have just lost a weeks education!

I doubt it

Bolton

If you look the schools by law have to open for a set number of days each year and can be prosicuted if they dont meet this requirment.

Think what they do is remove inset days to make the time up

The teachers have not been on a fact finding mission to Miami! Over 8,000 schools nationwide closed, heating systems broken down, health and safety not letting people carry out work, WHOLE country seems to be in melt down, but only educators are to make up for this?!!

I felt the same when I read it.

NO one talks about AIRPORTS .. SHOPS ... or any individual who never made it in to work. Just schools.

What is it with people ? Do they only notice something when their children are off school?

Perhaps every child who has ever had a day off should be made to make it up at the end of the year when everyone is on holiday.

Maybe every parent that was late picking their children up should pay a baby sitting fee or bring the child in earlier the next day.

According to a report I read 40% of people never made it to work.

I don't think people are going to be happy unless their children are dragged and driven dangerously across ice and snow into antiquated buildings with broken heating systems. No one moans about the poor state of education in this society until it affects them. So I can't help but wonder if they it is their children's education they are worried about.

If the schools stayed open people would moan about the hazards of getting to school and getting home.

Its not the teachers who close the School, its the Local Authority - so the blame lies with the Council, not the Teachers xx

I remember when I was a kid,we had some bad winters and if our antquated heating packed up we sat in our coats for lessons.

However,in those days the majority of teachers lived within walking distance of the schools.

These days though many commute from out of town.

So it makes sense,if they can't get to work, theres no one to teach the kids, hence the closures.
