Usually use gpt to translate texts.

But my main AI friend is copilot. Helps a lot with python coding.

But is it doing anything truly of any use?

I built quite a big side revenue a few years ago using Amazon mechanical Turk, I got approached by a firm and (Cambridge) asking if I wanted to automate it using ChatGPT API they said they would do a proof of concept for free. They tried for six months and failed and these guys are meant to be the best in the UK.

It’s still running nicely using real people on Amazon Turk & similar

No. It bothers me, the volume of resources that they use, so I'd have to be doing something that's highly important. They use tons of water and electricity, as well as producing pollution. With the state of the world, they have massive implications for world well-being

It helped me land the job of a lifetime. That said, I do think there are better LLMs out there, especially for images.

If people aren’t using these tools, they’ll soon be left behind.

Never used it, there's a guy at work that swears by it, and if I use it, he'll want to talk to me about using it, at length. He annoys me enough that I would literally avoid oxygen if it meant not having a conversation with him. Sorry chat gpt you were foiled by the enthusiasm of a triple denim wearing hipster. 🤷‍♂️

It’s just google on steroids and because that information can be swayed, cue propaganda machine and waste of resources, we can’t stop it now because it’s making a lot of money for a very few people and they don’t give a shit about the future, the planet, the people, turn the fucking thing off before it becomes sentient

All over

It is definately a case of how you use it. Many areas where it can be an extremely useful tool, including medicine, health care, education, commerce and many more. Sadly it is also often used in a way that is shifting social norms and that is a worrying trend. I can't stop it but can resist it's desire to take over my life. I will soon be off to help my 94yo friend who is in despair as can't get through to his electricity provider whose customer service has been taken over by AI. As a result, he finds himself in a constant cycle of ridiculous options designed to deter any form of human interaction. Progress indeed.

I use it quite a lot. It makes certain tasks at work much faster, you do have to check what it says though!

It helps me with coding at work and also helps me with learning a language. It explains the concepts really well and gives plenty of good examples.

I think for that kind of stuff it's great, but I think using it to create "art" is fucking terrible. In both principle and execution

This. It does the bulk donkey work then I have to check it anyway because it’s actually unreliable at times. What is annoying is that you can call it out and it apologises and then makes the same mistake again.

Ive been using it with the pro plan, i only recently learned theres a name for the forgetfulness, drifts, what people forget is AI doesn't Exist, essentially, its a virtual assistant with access to the Internet, so essentially a chatbot. If I want something as correct as possible, I ask it to perfect my prompt, then paste that into a new chat, the results, I then paste into a new chat or specific gpt to review etc. But I have been attempting to get it.to create my own assistant, which has been frustrating, but its something I've been happy spending hours at.... and have restarted from scratch about 7 times, but each time I think im getting closer, I have no programming or coding experience, no college education, but yet, I have been able to piece together a content uploader for reddit threads, obviously the moderator bots flagged and blocked it, but the fact I got that far when I don't even understand how the process works, is something that tells me that LLMs have more potential than most people realise. It has written me 4 ebooks, which I have on amazon kdp, I asked it.to train itself as an accumulator selctor for horse racing, and every day pick 5, then in the evening check results and analyse what i got wrong to help it to improve the next day, it improved, 40% win rate over all of the horses chosen, just not the accumulators, seems to me the possibilities are endless, if you had the right directions for it, and I've had it act outside its guidelines by framing the requests correctly, it really is a resource that has endless possibilities if used correctly.
