Depends what the checks are, how the data is stored and how difficult they'll be.

I know things have moved on since I was a child but one of the reasons I couldn't access porn when I was a child was because my parents wouldn't let me (of course I'm not saying parents of kids who do access porn have let their childrend do so). And all phones and internet providers these days already have blocks to stop under 18s accessing adult only sites.

Teens these days will find a way, they will have multiple phones if they want to hide something bad enough. There is only so much control parents can have in this situation, and this is getting harder and harder as technology is changing even quicker.

Most businesses generally want to hold as little personal information as they can if there is no business reason to hold it because they know the less they hold the less that can be nicked/lost.

Age verification via a mobile that has been verified by a credit card means that the only people who are _actually_ holding any of my details are the credit card company.

I wasn't sure what would be required to prove our ages. I’d already decided if my personal details were required then I’d no longer use any site that required such info. Turns out that by using AI, there are several simple methods that use no data other than info that’s already posted to the site by us, will be sufficient.

Well done fab for finding a good solution to a problem that I’m sure would have reduced the number of site users.

The annoying thing about this act is that it won't stop underage teens or anybody else from accessing any porn site of course. Even most "non savvy" of 9 year olds know what a VPN is and know full well how to use it. Download and install on a phone blocked from accessing adult material and away you go. Most teenage boys in particular will have sussed this out within mins.
